Have you got previous experience and proven history working in a busy retail environment with omni channel responsibilities? Do you possess the capability to form strategies around different markets and work closely with procurement? Are you a confident person, who can lead, manage, develop and motivate a large team where collaboration is essential? We are currently looking for an Head of Retail to join our team… Is this the opportunity you have been looking for?
Following changes to the business, you will be responsible for developing the retail omni channel strategy with the Onboard Services Director. You will be responsible for the performance of the retail category managers across all passenger routes. The successful candidate will deliver a retail strategy that combines ship, shore and e-commerce across all DFDS Passenger routes. The position will entail working with the Head of Onboard Marketing to provide content and pricing strategy for the Onboard magazine and wider marketing material that will feed into passenger marketing.
We are seeking an individual who is pro-active in their approach, eager to learn, in a busy environment, but has excellent management skills whilst being able to develop effective relationships. At least 5 years experience of working as a category manager or senior buyer across different retail categories, working on a global scale across different geographical areas. Strong health, safety and quality knowledge to ensure the companies activities are in accordance with relevant policies. During this role you will need to be able to suggest improvements, be proactive and use a variety of management techniques to ensure a safe level of working whilst driving the business forward.

Principle Accountabilities:
- Ensure collaboration across geographical locations to deliver standardisation and sustainable growth
- Responsible for developing Retail Omni Channel Strategy with Onboard Services Director.
- Maintaining relationships with suppliers and Group Procurement and seek new opportunities.
- Ensures that communication and best practice is shared with all teams and train and develop the Retail team into an effective organisation.
- Look for innovation, keeping up to date with the Retail offering of our competitors and the wider retail world.
- Challenges Retail Category Managers to deliver quality and value.
- Responsible for delivering a profitable Retail offering to all routes and be data driven in making decisions and challenging Category and Route managers.
Knowledge & Qualifications
- Capable and demonstrates the ability to form strategies around different markets and work closely with Group Procurement.
- Previous experiences of travel retail or shipping is not a prerequisite.
- Previous experience in perfumes and cosmetics is essential.
- Previous experience of liquor and tobacco is essential with customs knowledge.
- Proven track record in leading, managing, developing, and motivating a large team - where collaboration is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
- Driven and self-motivated.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Able and willing to travel.
