Praktik - København

DanChurchAid (DCA) is looking for a committed and energetic person with documented experience in fundraising from institutional donors and international foundations to a newly created position. Your main task will be to ensure funding for DCA´s programmes in Asia, Africa and/or the Middle East. DCA´s humanitarian and development programmes fall within three overall goals: Save Lives, Build Resilient Communities and Fight Extreme Inequality.

As Advisor, you will be part of the DCA Global Partnerships and Donor Relations unit (GPDR). You will work together with six advisors based in Copenhagen and Bruxelles, as well as staff in DCA country offices around the world. You will be the focal person for developing relations and securing funds from international foundations, as well as supporting a smaller group of country offices with resource mobilization, including development of fundraising strategies, coordination of design processes of applications, networking with donors and grants management.

As Advisor, you will work in close collaboration with technical units in DCA headquarters such as program, compliance, finance, procurement and logistics. The work routines in the Global Partnerships and Donor Relations Unit are often characterised by tight deadlines and require ability to coordinate processes and foster good work relations in stressful situations. You will be expected to travel abroad, sometimes at short notice.

Your tasks

  • Obtain and share knowledge on donor policies and priorities. This will include tendency monitoring and knowledge of funding cycles.
  • Establish relevant relations with donors and facilitate overall networking in HQ and through country offices.
  • Develop relations to and secure funds from international / US foundations.
  • Facilitate the rollout of country office fundraising strategies and integration with country programme strategies and accordingly assist in prioritising funding opportunities.
  • Facilitate project design and proposal writing processes in cooperation with the relevant Country Office and units in headquarter.
  • Advise country office teams on contract negotiation, communication with donor and compliance of donor requirements throughout the project cycle.
  • Support country offices in increased DCA branding and visibility among donors through targeted donor outreach, including DCA competence descriptions/cases/stories.
  • Support capacity building activities of relevant DCA staff and/or local civil society partners.

We expect the following qualifications from you

  • Proven experience and established relations with international foundations, including key US foundations.
  • Experience with major international donors eg. UN, US and EU, including proposal development, donor liaison and grants management.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate proposal development and reporting processes with the input of multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong background in reporting and quality assurance of international projects.
  • Relevant higher education.
  • Committed, flexible and result oriented.
  • High standards of accountability and integrity.
  • Ability to travel up to 60 days a year – sometimes on short notice – to assist country offices and partners in proposal development and to maintain and develop relations to international foundations.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English a requirement; fluency in French an advantage.
  • Cultural sensitivity, proven diplomatic skills and the ability to build relations both within and outside DCA.
