About the department
Clinical trial operation activities are anchored in the R&D organisation under Global Development and play a vital part in our ambitious drug development program. We plan and execute clinical trials to produce the high-quality data and scientific documentation required by health authorities to turn our promising pipeline of exciting new medicines into marketable products. As a Director of Clinical Operations, you will be Managing a team of Trial Project Managers, Trial Managers, Trial Start-up Managers and Clinical Trial Assistants running clinical trials within GLP-1, CV & Outcomes. Taking on this international role is a unique opportunity to make an impact in a large and resourceful global development organisation.
Clinical Operations GLP-1, CV & Outcomes is a part of Global Development. In Global Development we drive all clinical development of products based on proteins and peptides from early development phases to product introduction and life cycle management. We are responsible for managing clinical drug development worldwide, securing that the process lives up to global standards, regulations and business ethics. We work in global project teams with focus on delivering viable products that make a difference to patients and ultimately benefit society.
The position
As a Director you will be driving the global coordination of a well-defined clinical trial program comprising of several clinical trials described in the Project Development Plan. You will be a member of a GPT (Global Project Team) and one or more Core teams representing Clinical Operations and being accountable for accomplishing clinical project success by providing insights on operational strategy and ambitious plans. Additionally, you will be responsible for the plan and allocation of the needed resources for a given trial within the clinical program.
You will act as line manager for a team within the GLP-1, CV & Outcomes area being responsible for performance management and competency development by coaching and guiding your team members and setting expectations and ambitious goals, ensuring the success of the team.
As line manager it is also expected that you help drive the transformation of Clinical Operations and support the implementation of a new global trial management strategy as well as being motivated by working with change management, setting clear expectations and providing guidance on ‘what good looks like’ for our newly established trial roles and trial squads.
You will become a member of the Clinical Operations management team as well as the area leadership team.
The job is based in Denmark but has a global scope. Travelling for meetings will be part of the job.
Qualifications
You hold a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in science and have several years of experience working with clinical drug development. You have previous experience with line management and preferably also project management. It is also expected that you have experience with the operational aspects of planning and conducting global clinical trials.
You are familiar with cross-organisational and global work representing trial management and you understand and can work and navigate well in a project-driven matrix organisation.
It is expected that you have the ability to inspire and motivate employees to do their best while having an organised and structured approach to leading employees. Preferably you have previous experience and can navigate well during organisational transformations.
