In the role as Mechanical Engineer, you will lead a new door and frame project for our box together with other passionate and highly technically skilled colleagues in both China and Denmark. You will be steering the project deliverables using the State Gate project model ensuring you meet project targets and deadlines while upholding the budget.

You will be part of the R&D department and report directly to the Head of Box R&D.

The MCI Box team connects regularly with customers and map new technology trends to constantly ensure that the team is at the forefront of new developments in terms of process and structural design, enabling MCI to offer the best product at the lowest cost to our customers.

“In my team, we are responsible for the structural design and development of the box ensuring the product is the best all-round product available in the market. We contribute with our deep technical knowledge of materials, sandwich structures and processing to ensure we have a product that meets the requirement and expectations of our customers in terms of modern cargo transportation” – Head of Box, R&D, Lars Lübker.

MCI is located in Tinglev in the Southern part of Denmark, close to attractive cities like Sønderborg, Kolding and Flensburg. We have strong local roots but act on a truly global stage. Key responsibilities


You will be our project lead and have a counterpart at our production site in Qingdao, China.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• R&D project development & management
• Design in 3D
• Calculation of strength & perform tests
• Construction
• Define & support in connection with implementations of production processes in China

We are looking for


To qualify for our new Mechanical Engineer position, you need a mechanical or technical education (e.g. mechanical or manufacturing engineering) Minimum B.sc and min 3 years of relevant work experience.

Hands-on experience with Design for Manufacturing (DfM)

To work in our team, you need to be a creative thinker with a talent for establishing strong working relationships with colleagues so as to understand precisely what they require from us. You will also need proven technical skills in mechanical construction, sandwich structures, manufacturing processes and materials technology.

We expect that you are open to learn new tasks and your approach is disciplined, structured and systematic. You prefer to have your own responsibility areas for a broad range of technical tasks.

We are looking for an analytical specialist person who is also result-oriented. You are creative and strong in finding solutions to all kind of technical problems.

Additionally, we expect you to have:

• 3D CAD experience
• Prince2 or similar gate model experience
• Strong team spirit but also won’t hesitate to challenge your colleagues in order to ensure you deliver high quality results.
• Hands-on experience with Design for Manufacturing (DfM) is not mandatory but highly appreciated.
• Good sense of humor, and a social and accommodating nature
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are a prerequisite

You must expect approx. 25 travel days a year.
