Country Manager, Ireland

European Energy is a Danish privately owned company dedicated to playing a key role in the green transition. European Energy develops, finances, constructs, and operates wind and solar farms as well as large-scale PtX plants. We have a strong track record as a renewable energy operator across 18 countries of operation and expect to grid-connect more than 750 MW in 2021 with another +1 GW in 2022. Our 270 employees with 24 different nationalities working from our HQ in Copenhagen as well as Sweden, the UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, Brazil, Lithuania, and Spain.

You will be part of our global project organisation, which is in charge of the origination and development of our projects across all markets. You will be the commercial lead of the Irish market with reference to our Global Project Director and have the responsibility of building up the Irish market by originating new greenfield, brownfield, and ready-to-build wind and PV projects.

As Country Manager, Ireland, which you will set up, you coordinate and contribute to assessing feasibility and commercial potential of projects and secure progress through the project life cycle. Finally, you will identify and evaluate potential local partners, advisors, and subcontractors.

Based on our matrix organization, all projects involve close cooperation with financial, legal, and technical colleagues at the HQ in Denmark.

Areas of Responsibility


  • Build up and head our team in Ireland, including commercial and administrative leadership
  • Lead origination and project development in Ireland
  • Drive commercial processes in renewable projects, both wind, and solar
  • Coordinate and assess the feasibility of utility-scale renewable energy projects
  • Develop and maintain a network of advisors
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in all phases of the project life cycle, e.g. construction, financing, and operation

Professional skills we expect from you


  • You have completed a bachelor or a master within engineering, economics, or similar from a university or equivalent institution
  • At least 8 years of experience, preferably from a similar role with people management
  • Experience with the renewable energy industry, primarily in wind and solar technologies
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • Strong leadership skills

It is essential that you possess strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking and that you are motivated by completing projects successfully and going the extra mile. It is very important that you have the leadership skills to motivate and develop your team. The position entails navigating in a dynamic environment with many stakeholders and occasional challenges, which is why you must thrive with unforeseen events and shifts in priorities. You thrive in an environment with a variety of interesting tasks. You will quickly become familiar with technical as well as financial and administrative details of our renewable assets and contribute to managing internal and external workstreams.
