The Center for Muscle and Joint Health, Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, invites applications for 2-3 positions (part-time or full-time) as assistant professors in Musculoskeletal Health to be filled in the period from 1 January 2023 till 31 December 2025.
Job description and expections of qualifications:
The candidates will be expected to be able to initiate and conduct research, teaching as well as dissemination and outreach activities.
We are searching for 2-3 candidates (see profiles below).
For all positions, the successful candidate must demonstrate a solid research output within research in musculoskeletal health and be motivated to further develop an independent research profile in synergy with the center/research unit’s and department’s strategies.
The candidates will be expected to take on administrative responsibilities and commit to the social and professional life at the center/research units and department, which value workplace presence as an important aspect. Further, the candidates are expected to teach and supervise bachelor and master students enrolled in the programmes of the Faculty of Health Sciences, primarily Clinical Biomechanics, Sport and Health and MSc in Physiotherapy.
The candidates will also be expected to attend and complete the SDU lecturer training program with documentation of own teaching development.
For these positions, candidates with the following qualifications will be prioritized:
- A PhD degree within a field relevant of the position
- Experience with musculoskeletal research
- Experience with teaching, supervision, and course coordination
- Success with external funding
- Strong motivation and personal drive
In addition, the following qualifications will be prioritized for each of the positions:
Profile 1 (Clinical Biomechanics research unit):
- A strong clinical background
- Experience with research in clinical assessment and/or diagnosis and/or diagnostic imaging
Profile 2 (Musculoskeletal Function and Physiotherapy research unit):
- A strong clinical background
- Experience with clinical research
Profile 3 (Musculoskeletal Function and Physiotherapy research unit):
- Experience with evidence synthesis
- Qualifications in knowledge exchange and public dissemination

Within a three-year period, non-Danish-speaking applicants are expected to master the Danish language at a level which enables reading Danish exam papers and administrative documents and within five years enables the applicant to teach in Danish. The department offers free language classes and a reduction in workload to support non-Danish speaking employees.
