AquaBioTech Group, Malta, is seeking an Aquaculture Consultant
Job description
A position within AquaBioTech Group has arisen for a suitably qualified person to work on a variety of projects within the Group’s diverse portfolio. The position is described as an Aquaculture Consultant, ideally, but not essentially, with knowledge of recirculation aquaculture system (RAS) technologies. The responsibilities of the selected candidate are to be divided into three distinct areas of work, although briefly described as undertaking the development and management of various projects and assignments that are contracted to AquaBioTech Group.
The primary task is to provide assistance in the undertaking of consultancy assignments (project planning, technical and financial feasibility studies, risk assessments, technical and operational support) for a variety of global aquaculture projects, including fish and shrimp hatcheries and recirculation aquaculture systems (RAS) for various clients’ projects.
The secondary task is to assist our design and engineering teams with the required biological / technical input relating to bio-planning, stocking, growth-curves and feeding rates with regards to research facilities, hatcheries and grow-out recirculation aquaculture systems. Assist the engineering and architectural teams with the preparation of bill of quantities for projects.
The last task area is to assist the installation teams with the implementation of the projects and post commission phases. This part of the work can take the selected candidate to a variety of locations all over the world for various durations of time. For some of the larger projects we are involved in there will be the opportunity to relocate for a substantial period of time - assistance with the relocation process will be provided in these cases.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) Consulting, the position is demanding requiring a person who is highly motivated and self-organised. The selected person must be prepared to work to very tight deadlines in isolated and multi-functional projects and in conjunction with a team of international staff based at our head-office based in Malta.

Training provided
Successful candidates will go through our internal onboarding procedure, whereas all information and documentation will be provided before start date, for information and signing. Technical training will also be provided, specific to the role and skills assessment of the selected individual.
Any assistance with accommodation/relocation
AquaBioTech Group offers all employees company accommodation, which comes at cheaper rates compared to personal renting, and which will be available immediately for new employees to use upon their arrival. All preparation related to accommodation is handled by the company.
Any other benefits
For those positions within the company that require compliance with a changing and dynamic roster, and who are susceptible to working public holidays, will be given those days back to be used as leave allocation.
Salary
The successful candidate will be offered a long-term, fixed-term contract with the company. The starting package offered for this position will be structured upon the chosen candidate, reflecting the experience the candidate brings to the company, but also in line with the cost of living in Malta and could include an accommodation package, if required. Euro 25 - 30k

Requirements
- A successful candidate is expected to have at least a M.Sc. in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Oceanography or a related scientific field. Experienced based candidates are also encouraged to apply.
- The selected candidate will have to speak and write English at a good level.
- The selected candidate must have a clean EU / EEA passport OR be a third-country national (TCN) presently residing in the EU with no travel restrictions or legal convictions and be in possession of a clean driving licence.
