ARE YOU A GOOD MATERIAL SCIENTIST WITH SUPERIOR IT SKILLS?

National Oilwell Varco Subsea Production Systems (NOV SPS) designs and manufactures flexible pipes and specific, innovative products for the offshore oil and gas industry. Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, we leverage superior engineering and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to establish long-term partnerships with global contractors and oil companies. To keep our hard-earned reputation as the most innovative supplier of flexible pipe solutions, we are looking for a scientist with strong IT skills for our materials and testing department.
You will mainly work with physical/mathematical models and data for the polymeric materials used in flexible pipe applications, and the fruits of your labor can be both analytical and numerical in nature. Depending on your background, this could be analyses of gas diffusion in polymer materials and pipe structures, modelling of creep response of polymers under mechanical loading or modelling of ageing phenomena for our materials.
Can you apply results to our digital journey?
Most of our experimental data is produced in our in-house laboratory or at our production facilities. We are beginning an ambitious push towards a digital transformation of this work. Consequently, you will also take part in organizing our test data, develop data analysis software services and deploy these to our Kubernetes cluster. Therefore, the main technical competences we are looking for are strong skills within mathematics and data science, and it will be beneficial if you have skills and experience in the following areas:
Qualifications
Scientist with IT skills
You probably have a background in physics, mathematics, chemistry or data science, and you have a solid experience with programming. You thrive with making systems more robust and data readily available for analysis as you work will result in our data becoming an integrated part of NOV’s private cloud solutions.
As a person you are an outgoing and pro-active team player, working across engineering disciplines and have good communication abilities in an international environment with English as company language. You work systematically and ensure good documentation of performed work.
From careful testing and analysis to the toughest environments on the planet
Our materials and testing department acts as a global competence and knowledge center for the organization and primarily supports our Danish and Brazilian manufacturing facilities. Our pipes we make with the materials you will work with operate at extreme conditions. They need optimal technical solutions to deliver the required performance. The department currently employs 70 engineers, scientists and technicians with broad competences within steel, corrosion, polymers, material modelling and composite materials. Thus, we work at a high technical level, and we are proud of our professional approach.
