- Kalundborg
Do you have a solid background within energy- and environmental management, and a thorough understanding of the processes involved that carries an industry like ours? Are you ready to take on the responsibility of ensuring that we reach the ambitious Circular-to-Zero strategic goals that we have set for a manufacturing facility that produces about 25% of the total global insulin supply? Then do not hesitate to apply for this position, where you can build a level of professional knowledge you will have a hard time finding elsewhere.
About the department
Insulin Manufacturing 1 (IM1) in Kalundborg is the largest facility in the world, when it comes to producing the insulin that is the core ingredient of so many of the quality Novo Nordisk products that help about 24 million people living with diabetes around the world – the products you will be part of producing are present in about 180 countries.
In IM1, we have an entire production chain under one roof – from upstream formation of our patented cultures, to harvesting, cleaning, purifying and filling – expanding the foundation for some of the latest Novo Nordisk products and strategies.
In Novo Nordisk, we are committed to an environmental bottom line, ensuring that circular thinking, life-cycle management and environmental impact in general is always at the centre of our attention while meeting the ambitious goals of a successful and busy company. In IM1 Business Support, we make sure that the production is backed up by a solid structure of dedicated people – and that all the needs of a complex setup are met, including the way we interact with the world around us. We make sure that regulatory requirements are met and drive a host of projects related to creating a more agile production setup and freeing up resources through process optimisation and digitalisation. As part of the Training and Coordination team of ten immediate colleagues, you will join our effort in communicating initiatives across a large organisation with great stakeholder diversity.
In the Training and Coordination team, as well as in the rest of the department, we emphasise a healthy and productive work environment with a sensible balance between the needs of the individual and the needs of the organisation. We enjoy sharing our findings and helping each other with the harder challenges, and you will always find support here when you need it.
The job
As our new environmental coordinator, you will be the person responsible for ensuring that we reach our ambitious goals, when it comes to our environmental impact and energy governance. You will be gathering the data you need, perform the thorough analysis that ensures solid forecasts and trend identification, and then ensure actions are taken when necessary. This means that you will be interacting with a broad set of stakeholders with many different concerns, balancing the needs of a complex production setup with regulatory compliance, footprint management and any value maturation that an analytic focus on environmental impact may foster.
You will be responsible for ensuring that we meet all the regulatory requirements we have to, regarding energy- and environmental management across IM1. Besides a need for a thorough understanding of how the regulatory body works, this means that you will be communicating and assisting in the implementation of many initiatives with impact on the daily lives of many of your colleagues.
A lot of your time, you will be on shop floor to show your colleagues how to make lofty strategic punchlines become everyday methods and processes that provide value and a better work environment. Sometimes you may meet a level of change resistance, that you will have to possess the personal tools to overcome, in good spirits and with an eye for solutions.
As we have created strong results working with LEAN, we use the tools daily to coordinate, plan and implement new processes or improvements of work flows and initiatives that addresses behaviour and work culture.
You will be expected to do a lot of independent work within the strategic framework of both IM1 and Novo Nordisk in general, and you will have – and feel - the managerial support to back you in reaching the practical goals you will be setting. We will be counting on you to create and maintain the trustful relations needed to make cultural changes in a collection of people and processes as complex on so many levels as IM1 is.
You can expect a job with great impact, exciting challenges that make a difference for a lot of people, and the opportunity to learn and grow from solving a range complex issues, balancing a truly complicated set of interests, concerns and ambitions and creating results that can both be felt and documented. You will develop professionally from all the knowledge sharing you will be taking part in, and build a network of people that will provide you with an enviable level of business insight.
Qualifications
As your academic approach to the analysis of trends and opportunities and forecast production is crucial to success, we expect that you hold an academic degree that is relevant to the job. Whether you have been around hard science and/or production, giving you a thorough understanding of a setup like ours, is not critical. Maybe you have been working within a regulatory body or consulting, providing you with the means to navigate a complex landscape of requirements and guidelines with impact on mostly all practicalities. There could be many roads leading to this position. We do expect you, however, to have the skill set, the mindset and the tools to take on a rather big chunk of responsibility, allowing you to facilitate change and create motivation founded on a solid understanding of what you are working with. Therefore, at least three years of professional experience after you earned your degree is a must for this position.
We expect your communication skills to be second to none – you create trustful relations naturally and with ease, and people will tell us that you always ignite their motivation when you present and execute your ambitious ideas. When you meet resistance, or things just won’t go the way you want them to, your first response is to figure out why and do something about it – in your fair-minded and yet assertively persuasive way.
Full proficiency in English as well as in Danish is also a must – you will often need to lead conversations in both languages on a technical level as well as in plain language, and with people with many different backgrounds and professional concerns.
