DFDS is currently going through a transformation. The outcome of a recent strategy process has confirmed our initial initiatives within AI and predictive analytics and provided renewed ambitions for an accelerated digitalization of our business.
The Smart Data team was established two years ago. Working agile with a strong focus on our customer’s needs, we have already delivered multiple solutions that provide tangible benefits for the business and our customers.
The team currently consists of 10 highly dedicated specialists and we are now looking for a highly skilled and motivated person to join this successful team and help accelerate our strategy even further.
As a Data Engineer in the Smart Data Team, you will have a vital role in designing and building the data infrastructure to support innovative predictive projects using both traditional technologies and cutting-edge cloud platforms.
We have full end-to-end ownership of initiatives (data acquisition & analysis, building predictive models, creating prototypes and assisting with integrating of solutions into existing products). In line with your experience, you have the possibility to greatly influence the way we work.
With a very diverse business spanning multiple business areas (Freight, Logistics, Passenger, Terminals) supported by many different IT solutions, there is a huge potential for application of advanced analytics, Internet-of-Things, big data solutions, AI etc.
Smart Data is part of the Digital organisation. You will report to the head of the Smart Data department and be placed at our headquarters in Nordhavn (Copenhagen)
Your primary responsibilities
You will be working in an agile environment, taking responsibility of solving tasks related to data (data platform, data pipeline etc.) in sprints, with an explorative and fail-fast mind-set.

- Together with data scientists, move valuable PoC’s into production mode
- Formulate & execute Smart Data architecture (cloud & on-prem)
- Build & maintain data pipelines
- Ensure deliveries are aligned with our API strategy
The ideal profile
We expect the candidates to have:
- Experience with complex data models and a varied system landscape (on-prem & cloud)
- A strong technical profile, with the ability to deliver in accordance with business needs
- Experience with SQL, Cloud platforms (PaaS & IaaS) and Python
- Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: NoSQL, AWS, event streaming, docker, Azure DevOps, Alteryx
- A preference to working in an agile environment with focus on measurable results
- Proven track-record of delivering valuable data solutions
