We are searching for a data engineer
This position is based at our friendly office in Roskilde, Denmark and you will join one of our delivery teams within the Data & Cloud domain. The Data & Cloud domain is in charge of developing BI & Analytics solutions for Danish banking sector.

In this position, you will join a team of 8 people based in Poland and Denmark, consisting of developers, scrum master, product owner and development manager, working together to build our new cloud-based BI & Analytics platform within a modern, cloud environment.

Currently the team is focused on preparing the Azure platform ready to host existing BI solutions (mostly based on IBM Netezza, MS SQL, Informatica PowerCenter and Business Objects). In short term the focus will be on building the tools necessary to migrate the IBM Netezza solutions into Azure Synapse and sequentially perform the “lift and shift” migration. Within 3 years from now, as the team is one of the ‘first-movers’ into bec’s future cloud-based data and analytics landscape, we will be shifting our attention towards building new, cloud-based solutions within Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, WhereScape and Data Vault 2.0.

At bec, we prefer to collaborate often in the office, but we also keep the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week. Your direct manager will be Sebastian Bisaga.

Primary task and responsibilities include:
In the position as a data engineer, you will work closely with team members, product owner, development manager, architects, and our customers. Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Short term: Actively work on the “lift and shift” migration of existing BI solutions (short/mid term), mostly leveraging analysis, SQL, PowerCenter, PowerShell and SAP Business Objects skills
  • Long term: Build the new, Azure-based BI solutions within Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, WhereScape and Data Vault 2.0
  • Collaborate within the team & with cross teams with the SAFe delivery approach
  • Get familiar with the legacy technology stack owned by the team in order to be able to contribute in potential transitioning to Azure-based scenarios and secure the team’s versatility
  • Optional: Temporarily (~6-8 months) play a role of scrum master (max. 50% of FTE) during the absence of our regular SM

To succeed you will have:

  • A curious mind with an open nature and desire to knowledge-share with others
  • Educational background as a computer scientist/engineer
  • Proficiency in using SQL and Informatica PowerCenter (or similar like Alteryx, MSSSIS, etc.)
  • +3 years of experience in BI & Analytics
  • 1 year of experience in using Synapse Analytics
  • Programming experience (PowerShell, Python)
  • Analytical skills, big picture observations
  • Team player– ready to cooperate across teams and cross domains

With colleagues in teams distributed in Denmark and Poland, you must be a Danish speaker and master English at a high level both in writing and orally.

It’s nice-to-have:

  • Experience and/or willingness to play a role of a scrum master is an asset
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies
