As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you will be the main developer of the robot's end effectors and all the electromechanical devices required to realize our vision for an optimized and intelligent production. Some of the exciting challenges we are tackling include among others the design and development of custom end-effectors, the integration of a camera-based measurement station, the selection and integration of a cleaning system, the integration of a modular automation system, the design and integration of a complete safety system.
You will play a key role in our efforts to develop, optimize, deploy, and control a reliable automatic system.
What You'll Be Doing
o Work with a team that develops a unique new process, shaping it into a product for the market.
o Conceptualize and engineer new, unique electromechanical and software systems for our robotic cell.
o Develop design documents for mechanical parts and final product.
o Drive and promote a culture to minimize part count and provide robust designs
o Understand cost of quality and impact on products from design and manufacturing standpoint
o Factor design for manufacturability, process overheads and installation cost during the design process
o Prototype proof of concepts
o Drive product revisions, improvements and cost out activities based on test outcomes
o Develop or select, integrate, deploy and test the end-effectors of our robot
o Develop, integrate, deploy and test a (PLC based) control software for an electromechanical device
o Develop control interfaces and take care of the integration of all electromechanical devices in the robotic cell
o Participate in system architecture, product design and code reviews
o Troubleshoot pneumatics, PC based controllers, DC servo systems, and other sophisticated electronic test equipment.
o Handle multiple activities simultaneously, meet deadlines, while effectively managing priorities and communicating progress.
o Collaborate with members of our software, hardware, and operations teams
What You'll Bring
o 8+ years of work experience
o Proficiency in mechatronics.
o Experience designing and building functional prototypes of mechatronic systems incorporating computing, sensing, and actuation
o Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to build and assemble prototypes
o Proficiency in 3D modelling software and mechanical drawings
o Practical expertise in designing, developing and integrating reliable and cost-effective mechatronics modules
o Broad expertise in PLC programming with several PLC brands and in particular with Siemens and FANUC
o Expertise in sizing and controlling rotary/linear motion systems
o Expertise in safety systems (i.e. automation systems' safety) and the machine directive
o Experience with robot's end-effectors design, development and integration on physical robots
o Experience in systems architecture
o Experience with optical measurement systems
o Minimum BS in Mechatronics/Cybernetics or related fields (MS or Ph.D. preferred)
Nice-to-Haves
o You have developed and shipped a complete product to a customer
o Experience in R&D
o Experience from a system integrator company
o Experience with production companies
o Experience with metal cutting applications and in particular with machining centers
