Would you like to make a difference in a dynamic trade between some of the world’s most dynamic markets?
As Assistant Trade Manager for Far East Asia - West Africa, you will join the Africa trade grouping, one of five trade groupings in Centre Trade Management, which is a critical part of our Commercial organisation in Maersk Line.
Centre Trade Management is responsible for the overall strategy, and profit and loss (P&L) of individual trades. This includes setting direction, managing position-taking and long-term tenders and driving the strategic performance of our business.
The position reports to a Trade Manager.
You will run the daily business of the trade in close partnership with the Trade Manager.
As Assistant Trade Manager, your responsibilities will include, amongst other things, the following tasks:
Individual:
• Analysis for volume/rate forecasting
• Freight list updates
• Monitoring of market trends and ad hoc data gathering and market analysis
• Market plan input and preparation
• Trade Strategy Meeting preparation and trade strategy communication
• Monitoring of Key Performance Indicators and performance of clusters and Pricing
• Internal Slot Charter negotiations, filing and forecasting
• Tender process and pricing preparation
• Commitment ratio preparation, acceptance and compliance follow-up
• Vessel Sharing Agreements administration
• Act as Trade Manager in the Trade Manager’s absense
Shared:
• Trade strategy and result
• Execution of business development plans and activities
We require fluency in oral and written English, and proven experience with the following:
• Analysis and data-driven decision-making
• Ability to think strategically
• Insight into the liner shipping industry and trade management
• Excellent communication
• Strong commercial mindset
• Stakeholder management
• Pro-active approach
• Taking ownership and following through until completion of tasks
• Teamwork-oriented and able to work with a virtual team
Additional skills which are preferred, but not required:
• Positions with analytical exposure in frontline organization
• In-depth understanding of marketing, specifically competitor and market segmentation analysis and trends
