Save the Children Denmark is looking for a Senior Project Controller to monitor and coordinate its programs in Africa, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia. Speaking French would be a strong asset.
The position is located in Copenhagen.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the Business Support and Development Department, you will join our Project Finance section (8 persons), whose key mandate is to provide financial support and quality assurance regarding all financial aspects throughout the whole project cycle from proposal to close-out stage.
Your mission will consist in both project controlling (up to 50% of your time) and coordinating the section activities with internal stakeholders.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the Business Support and Development Department, you will join our Project Finance section (8 persons), whose key mandate is to provide financial support and quality assurance regarding all financial aspects throughout the whole project cycle from proposal to close-out stage.
Your mission will consist in both project controlling (up to 50% of your time) and coordinating the section activities with internal stakeholders.
Your project controlling role will include:
- Financial business partnering to the project coordinators and acting as donor focal point for budget and financial reporting issues: as financial counterpart to the project coordinators of your country portfolio, you will provide financial support on following up and on finalizing projects. You will also provide advisory support on donor compliance.
- Capacity building of the country offices: it will be part of your role to continuously supporting country offices on financial issues such as quality assurance or donor compliance as well as developing their capacities so that they comply with donor requirements. You will also assist them in making the financial reporting to donors as smooth as possible.
- Digitization: you will contribute to the development and implementation of an improved set of digital and automated processes incl. reports and templates.
As a coordinator, you will also:
- Follow up the regional portfolios and project pipeline at monthly meetings with the 3 Regional Heads.
- Liaise with the compliance officer and coordinate proper implementation of actions with the team and the international program department.
- Develop an internal auditor’s role and coordinate audits, especially EU/ECHO’s ones.
The position requires occasional travels to your portfolio countries and regional conferences (2-3 weeks a year).
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
- A relevant education/experience in areas such as finance or international business and more than 5 years of professional experience.
- Previous experience working in the NGO sector.
- Data management skills and good command of Excel.
- Full proficiency in English. Speaking French is a strong asset. Some knowledge of Danish is preferable but not mandatory.
- Understanding of accounting principles and experience with ERP systems.
