Save the Children Denmark is looking for a Project Controller to financially monitor its projects in West and Central Africa, in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Speaking French would be a strong asset.
The position is located in Copenhagen.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the Business Support and Development Department, you will join our Project Finance section (8 persons), whose key mandate is to provide financial support and quality assurance regarding all financial aspects throughout the whole project cycle from proposal to close-out stage.
While ensuring sound financial project management, you will support, advise, and interact with a wide range of stakeholders at the headquarters and in operation countries. Your role will be divided into the following key areas:
As financial counterpart to the project coordinators of your country portfolio, you will provide financial support on following up and on finalizing projects, incl. preparing elements for the final financial reports for auditors and/or donors. You will also provide advisory support on donor compliance.
It will be part of your role to continuously supporting country offices on financial issues such as quality assurance or donor compliance as well as developing their capacities so that they comply with donor requirements, formats and regulations. You will also assist them in making the financial reporting to donors as smooth as possible.
You will contribute to the development and implementation of an improved set of digital and automated processes incl. reports and templates.
The position requires occasional travels to your portfolio countries (2-3 weeks a year).

- Financial business partnering to the project coordinators and acting as donor focal point for budget and financial reporting issues

- Capacity building of the country offices
It will be part of your role to continuously supporting country offices on financial issues such as quality assurance or donor compliance as well as developing their capacities so that they comply with donor requirements, formats and regulations. You will also assist them in making the financial reporting to donors as smooth as possible.
- Digitization
You will contribute to the development and implementation of an improved set of digital and automated processes incl. reports and templates.
The position requires occasional travels to your portfolio countries (2-3 weeks a year).
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
- A relevant education and/or experience, for example in the areas of finance or international business. Applications of young professionals will be considered.
- Data management skills and good command of Excel.
- Full proficiency in English. Speaking French is a strong asset. Some knowledge of Danish is preferable but not mandatory.
- Understanding of accounting principles and experience with ERP systems.
- Experience working in an international environment.

- A full-time permanent AC position (37 hours per week) according to the terms and conditions of the local Collective Agreement between Save the Children Denmark and the relevant unions (incl. pension, 6 weeks holidays, care days).
