The Business Platforms organization is at the forefront of developing cutting edge technologies to improve the customer’s experience with personalized and automated end-to-end digital journeys, that enable Maersk customers to access standardized products and services seamlessly. The Platforms help enable Maersk’s vision to be the Global Integrator of container logistics, connecting and simplifying customers’ supply chains. Additionally, the team creates the foundation to integrate data, systems and processes, powered by scalable digital Infrastructure and APIs.

The Director, Business Analytics will lead the team charged with converting data into actionable business insights and defining how we measure the success of products across Maersk’s Fleet, Procurement and Decarbonization platforms. As a leader of business analytics, you will coordinate and create a consistent analytics platform, build deep contextual and domain knowledge, drive thought leadership and educate product managers and business stakeholders on the fundamental inputs and outputs of the business.

You must be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail. This is a highly visible position that interact at all levels of the company. You must have the ability to quickly formulate strategies and plans that are deeply backed by data and drive execution across many work functions and teams simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • You will hire and develop an analytics team: You will need to hire and develop strong talent, and identify the ideal team structure, goals, and career paths in a highly dynamic environment. You will inspire and motivate teams to accomplish big tasks, and you consistently reinforce strong product marketing fundamentals with your team.
  • Establish an analytics platform that identifies the key success factors for business areas to measure the impact of the platforms and the features developed. You will build and deliver a roadmap of analytical solutions with strong engagement with stakeholders.
  • You will engage with your peers and stakeholders to identify opportunities, actively seek out areas of ambiguity that impact our ability to deliver meaningful results, and define strategies to apply analytical approaches to resolve ambiguity, bring focus and clear methodology.
  • You will communicate with senior leaders and stakeholders across Maersk. You will be expected to support key strategic decisions as well as product development decisions by delivering high quality analysis and conclusions through written documents and memos.
  • Be a pragmatic problem solver, applying judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests. You will be flexible, adapting your approach to meet the needs of the team, the customers, and the project or product.
  • Lead and actively participate in design reviews, aligning teams across your organization towards coherent analytics strategies. You bring clarity to complexity, probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls, and foster shared understanding.

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years leadership experience in Business Analytics, Business Intelligence or related Product Management roles
  • Experience in building and scaling high performance teams, coaching and developing an engaged and effective analyst community
  • Demonstrated track record of data driven story telling and crafting compelling strategy leveraging analytical insights, structuring complex ideas to drive clarity, consensus and simplify decision making processes
  • Advanced in SQL – knowledge and ability to write complex queries from scratch from multiple table,s creating appropriate joins, extracting and manipulating data, formatting fields and creating and communicating new measures and metrics.
  • Fluency with advanced analytical toos (Python, R, SAS, etc) – ability to run advanced statistical modelling and testing in one of the above languages)
  • Fluency with data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlikview, Power BI, QuickSight etc.) – ability to create interactive, user-friendly and compelling dashboards and reports)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and earn trust with stakeholders ranging across the Maersk operating functions.
  • An MBA or Masters degree in economics, statistics, or other engineering and science disciplines is preferred, not mandatory.
