This is a super exciting role, and you as the Head of Business Finance Fleet Investments are responsible for investment analysis and business case development for acquisitions, divestments, and retrofits for Maersk's fleet of container vessels (720), 340 of which Maersk owns and services throughout the life cycles, and 380 are chartered.

The role reports directly to the Head of Business Finance, Fleet Management and Technology (FMT), who reports to the CFO, Fleet and Strategic Brands.

Key Responsibilities

You are responsible for setting strategic direction and building a roadmap to take the Business Finance, Fleet Investments team to the next level by utilizing new tools, processes, and a spirit of continuous improvement.

Other key tasks:

  • Leads the development of comprehensive financial models and investment proposals for vessel acquisitions and retrofits while focusing on delivering best-in-class economics and return on capital
  • Collaborate with the Investment Analysis group to prepare materials for Senior Management, Investment Committee, and the Board.
  • Coordinates with key stakeholders to establish governance around capital allocation decisions provides insightful analysis that enables prioritization and conducts post-investment value analysis of projects based on objective criteria.
  • Partners closely with Head of Business Finance, Fleet Strategy on business plan development and provides key inputs related to capital spending on the fleet.
  • Support Newbuilding and Retrofit teams within Chartering with ad-hoc analysis and proactively identify opportunities to introduce financial tools and processes that provide incremental value to the business.
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Lead a team of high-performing finance talent to pursue possibilities that will create sustainable value. Ensures that all team members are engaged, and motivated to work toward common goals.
  • Fosters an environment that encourages and enables others to build skills and develop their careers. Provides timely and respectful feedback and coaching to help others' development.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s Degree in Business, Economics, or a similar quantitative subject combined with a minimum of 7 years of work experience in analytical positions within Finance with a keen eye for problem-solving.

You are an experienced leader and have hands-on experience leading a high-performing team.

You have excellent communication skills and obtain buy-in from a wide range of stakeholders, including executive management.
