We offer
You will be part of the Transported by Maersk Platform focused on streamlining, optimizing, and automating our transportation network end 2 end via advanced software solutions.
As a data scientist you will take central part in designing and implementing
core data science components of decision support software products for our business.
You will be joining the network design and scheduling platform, where you will be part of a team designing, building and maintaining complex optimization engines which caters for uncertainty and volatility in a large scale multimodal network. As a person you have experience and enthusiasm for AI at scale with a passion for predictive models modelling uncertainties and its interplay with prescriptive decision science models (operations research).
You will be part of a strong data and decision science community working together with multiple engineering teams. You will be a key player in designing decision support tools for core business processes using state of the art models and algorithms. You will be working closely with business stakeholders to make sure the tools you build fit into the business processes to enable smarter decisions and to embed core decision support tools into modern cloud-based software products supporting our business in planning and executing our global network. Key responsibilities
- Understand business problems and apply your expertise within predictive modelling and machine learning to design, implement, monitor and iteratively improve on our suite of forecasting products
- Designing, improving, and maintaining custom implemented predictive models and deep learning algorithms to design resilient and robust transportation networks for our customers.
- Have a continuous focus on providing business value, while ensuring technical sustainability (including maintainability, reliability, performance, availability and interpretability).
- Collaborate with data engineers and software experts to define the requirements for and build the data pipelines, as well as to make forecasting models into reliable and scalable software running on the cloud.
- Promote and drive adoption of cutting-edge data science practices within the team.
- Establish a data driven approach to measure model accuracy and resilience of networks during the product lifecycle from idea to MVP to final product.
- Build frameworks to evaluate outcomes of new models, before they are introduced.
- Continuously stay up-to-date on relevant technologies and use this knowledge to push the team forward.
We are looking for
- A team player and collaborator across business and technology
- A person with a scientific mindset comfortable with brainstorming, idea generation and prototyping to validate theoretical hypothesis preferably on production data if available.
- An interest in driving business outcomes through technology
- A master’s or PhD degree in engineering, mathematics, or computer science with a specialization within the field of data science, machine learning, robust (stochastic) optimization or advanced algorithms.
- Algorithmic software engineering skills as performance at scale is crucial.
- Proficiency with (graph) neural networks, deep learning and parameter tuning
- Fluency with at least one programming language among Python, C++, or C#. Having more programming language proficiencies is a plus. Experience with decision science/operations research, optimization under uncertainty and the business domain of shipping is an advantage
