Compliance Manager – Group Procurement

DFDS is looking for a Compliance Manager with the purpose of strengthening Group Procurement in DFDS, adding focus on compliance within the procurement process, systems and function. This role is newly developed, and the right candidate will be responsible for developing the compliance framework in Group Procurement and having responsibility also for the Group Procurement CSR profile.

DFDS is a European company with Group procurement as a centralized function. You will have many different stakeholders in different departments – both internally and externally. Group Procurement is placed in various locations across Europe.

The position will be based in either Istanbul, Turkey or Copenhagen, Denmark depending on where the right candidate is found.

Your responsibility

One of your main responsibilities will be to define the procurement compliance framework (incl. but not limited to; Export Control, EU Marine Equipment regulation, Inventory of Hazardous Materials, Supplier certificates, IMPA). The compliance agenda will contain a various list of responsibilities:

  • Maintaining, updating and monitoring the compliance program, processes and procedures.
  • Coordinating with Legal, Marine Standards, Technical Organization, Master data, Operational and Strategic Procurement teams when required.
  • Continuously building and enriching the Master Data in cooperation with Category Managers and Master data teams - to secure a lean procure to pay flow for the vessels and the Operational procurement team in relation to Statutory requirements,
  • Developing Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions,
  • Creating and implementing compliance framework related to the inventory of hazardous materials (Hong-Kong convention) with effect (from 01 Jan 2020),
  • Participating in procurement audits including creation of improvement plans when required

On an ongoing basis, we expect you to obtain knowledge and always stay updated on regulatory changes, participate in external forums/conferences relevant to the regulations. You will also grow expert knowledge around certificate requirements and the validation hereof,

As part of the job, you’ll collaborate with relevant stakeholders and purchasers across locations to ensure organizational awareness of processes and compliance requirements. You will also train purchasers, ensure awareness and focus on statutory requirements within procurement.

You thrive with having a lot on your plate and you are a true team player with the ability to challenge the current situation based on strong communication. We expect you to have an internal drive to expand knowledge and skills within relevant compliance areas.

  • Technical engineering and/or marine standards experience is key
  • We expect you to have a Bachelor/Master’s degree level in technical engineering, marine standard, or other relevant discipline within our field accompanied by relevant experience from a similar position in an international company.
  • You have already been actively involved in procurement and/or trade compliance activities and have experience in working with government agencies with the ability to understand and interpret legal regulations.
  • Having advanced excel skills will be an advantage, and strong interest in process driven activities such as optimizing and implementing governance.

In addition to this, your English language skills, oral and written, are excellent and you are a proficient IT user.

Travel days

In order to perform to the expectations of the role you must anticipate 25+ travel days a year.
