Get introduced to CMC Chemical Development and meet some of our employees by visiting our career site The position As our new Chemical/Process Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and optimizing synthetic routesfor the API. You will work closely with a diverse team of chemists, engineers and analytical scientists to ensure robust drug substance manufacture. Furthermore, your main responsibilities will include: Developing mechanistic models for chemical steps such as reaction, filtration, distillation, extraction, and crystallization. Establishing a Digital Twins for the chemical modification steps. Exploring efficient algorithms for parameter fitting and implementing model-design of experiments. Supporting late-stage development activities, such as control strategy, fate & purge study, PAR, FMEA. Supporting technology transfer to manufacturing sites and process scale-up activities. This position gives you a great opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of bioprocessing in close collaboration with a broad variety of stakeholder teams in development, production, and research. Qualifications You have a PhD in (chemical) engineering with experience in mechanistic modeling of complex systems based on experimental data supplemented with +3-5 years of experience in the life science industry, preferably in process development and scale-up. Furthermore, you should have: Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to formulate mathematical models based on differential equations and apply them using simulation. Good understanding of unit operations such as mixing, crystallization, distillation, liquid-liquid extraction and drying. Experience with chemical process development scale-up and/or technical transfer. Knowledge of process safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles. Proficiency in modelling software such as Aspen Plus, DynoChem, gPROMS, SuperPro, PRO/II and programming skills in MatLab, Python, or Julia. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. As a person, you posses exellent communication skills and the ability to present complex results in a clear and concise manner. With a solution-oriented mindset you have a strong practical capability to translate theory into real solutions. About the area As part of PSQIT organisation, Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) Development & Scaling makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We develop, manufacture and distribute drug candidates for clinical trials and have a strong culture with a “can do” mind-set. In Chemical Development, we are responsible for developing the synthetic processes required to produce the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for 's new and innovative product portfolio. These processes encompass chemical modification of recombinantly-produced proteins, as well as chemical synthesis of peptides, oligonucleotides, small molecules and novel excipients. Our work spans various stages of development, from clinical trials to commercial manufacturing. Our team in Chemical Development currently consists of 80+ chemists and laboratory technicians, and we have access to state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory facilities in Bagsværd (DK) and offices in Boston (USA).
