Ballerup

Do you have a passionate interest in using your strong molecular and cellular biology knowledge to build cell based models for characterizing the molecular mode of action of targets and new drug compounds? And a background within inflammation or dermatology? Then this could be exactly the opportunity you are looking for.

You will join the discovery organization in a successful, global company and contribute to our shared goal of becoming the world’s preferred dermatology care partner and improving the lives of people who live with a severe skin condition. With your scientific expertise, you will directly influence the continued implementation of molecular mode of action analyses as a core competency in our In Vitro Biology department and take active part in the early biological characterisation and selection of future drug compounds.

Your role will be to:

  • Use your cell biology expertise combined with your strong hands-on experience within molecular biology techniques to design and establish fit-for-purpose cellular models for addressing key questions within projects in the early drug discovery pipeline.
  • Plan and execute on cellular assays to characterize the function and potency of compounds and/or targets within the projects. Including hands-on experiments in the lab.
  • Proactively participate in cross-functional project teams and provide biology and cellular assay expertise in these.
  • Provide input and ideas for new techniques and be a key player in the implementation and further strengthening of our cellular and molecular capabilities within the team.

A vital part of your job will be to work in close collaboration with multiple colleagues across several different disciplines both within the LEO Pharma Research & Early Development area and externally with our network of collaboration partners.

Your knowledge and experience

You are a highly motivated scientist with a PhD in life sciences plus at least 3 years of relevant postdoctoral and/or pharma/biotech experience. Deep insight into inflammatory processes and a keen interest and strong knowledge on analysis of molecular events is a must.

You thrive generating data and have extensive hands-on experience with molecular cell biology techniques such as cell transfection, CRISPR, siRNA knock down, endogenous tagging technologies, reporter gene assays, qPCR, and strong literacy in handling and analysis of large datasets. You have broad experience in handling and culturing of mammalian cells, and if you do not already have strong hands-on experience working with cultures, co-cultures or spheroids of primary cells obtained ex vivo from human blood or skin, you have a basic knowledge and the ability to learn fast.

To succeed, you must be able to work proactively and independently on your tasks, while at the same time be a team player who thrives on creating results via close collaboration, knowledge sharing and mutual respect. As a scientist you are curious by nature, you have a positive and open approach to challenges, and you see new techniques or new solutions as great opportunities to learn.

Cells & Assays, your new team

You will join the Cells & Assays team, with 6 skilled and dedicated scientists and lab technicians working with a broad range of in vitro and ex vivo assays within the In Vitro Biology department. You can look forward to being part of a team that shares your deep interest in disease biology and where engaging in scientific discussions is an important part of our working day. We see knowledge sharing, helpfulness, and a deep passion for science as an important foundation for being successful in our tasks. We believe that work should be fun, and we treasure an open and collaborative working environment.

Applications will be evaluated on a running basis, and applicants may be called in for interviews prior to the deadline, so please apply as soon as possible, and no later than 23rd of May.
