We are expanding our Patient Monitoring Diagnostic (PMD) Front-End Development team and are looking for an experienced Development Engineer with a proven track record in developing medical devices. Your focus will be on developing, improving, and maintaining the medical devices within our product categories Neurology (EMG, EEG etc.) and Cardiology (ECG).
Together with 40+ skilled Innovation colleagues, you will be a part of the growing Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring Innovation unit at our headquarter in Ballerup. The unit is part of Ambu’s Global Innovation organization which consists of over 300 people on multiple sites around the world. We have a great innovation culture and a clear focus on short time from idea to product launch. We focus on developing new products and production processes that combine several technologies in new and innovative ways.
Global, user-driven innovation – from idea to launch
As Development Engineer, you will be a key player in the development of Ambu’s medical devices – from initial idea to implementation in production and product launch.
Our product development methods emphasize a high degree of user and customer involvement, and a part of the job is therefore to meet the medical professionals at their locations in operating rooms, intensive care units or pre-hospital settings. One of your primary roles will be to develop devices and optimize the current portfolio according to the needs of health care professionals in close cooperation with our innovation colleagues in Penang, Malaysia.
You will be responsible for documenting your work, working according to the principles of design control and our Product Innovation Process.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Your contact base will be broad, and you will have an interface with Ambu’s global organization, all departments involved in product development projects and externally with users, knowledge centers and suppliers.
Qualifications
You hold a master’s degree in engineering, preferably within mechanics, electronics, MedTech or similar. You have strong experience with concept development with a focus on usability, preferably aimed towards health-care professionals.
You have 5+ years of experience in developing medical device with relevant focus area. Clinical experience (EEG, EMG, etc.) or insight into MRI conditional devices/medical devices which can stay on patients during MRI procedures, will be a bonus.
You are experienced in developing medical devices and according to design control. You have a strong technical foundation and interest, and you can understand technical implications of various options, also in relation to production. You work well in teams and can comply with tight deadlines, while managing multiple assignments.
As a person you are curious, highly motivated, and flexible. You have great interpersonal skills and have a sense of occasion, which makes you thrive in global teams. You have a passion for new challenges. You have a strong sense of responsibility towards your work. You work in a structured and proactive way, but you are flexible and able to “think out of the box”. You are a doer rather than theorize about a task.
Since we are a global company, you will be involved in cross-cultural collaboration. Consequently, it is a requirement that you are fluent in English and that you can communicate efficiently. Lastly, you thrive in a position that gives you the opportunity to travel approximately 20-30 days a year.

- Ensuring the that designs of our electrode portfolio continues to live up to the high standards of Ambu
- Concept development of ground-breaking products within the electrode portfolio
- Stakeholder management with customer and end-users and coordination across various in-house functions including, but not limited to, Marketing, QAE, RA, Clinical, Production, Procurement.
