The Position



Pharmacosmos has decided to supplement the already substantial organic growth of the three business units with Business Development activities with the goal of further expanding Pharmacosmos’ product portfolio through in-licensing or M&A deals. The objective is to capitalize on Pharmacosmos’ presence with own subsidiaries and significant commercial infrastructures in key markets across the world notably USA, China, Germany, UK, and Nordics which enables us harvest synergies through expansion of our current product portfolio. The focus will be on the Human Iron Business Unit.

Business Development as a separate function is newly established and now under the leadership of Michael Ryde, VP Corporate Development and former head of Pharmacosmos’ US subsidiary and currently still based in US.

Pharmacosmos has opened two positions as Director Corporate Business Development with main job being to scan the market and identify opportunities within the framework of Pharmacosmos’ BD Strategy, asses the attractiveness and relevance for Pharmacosmos and drive the opportunities through our defined process through involvement of other relevant functions in a close teamwork.

The Business Development strategy and processes are currently being finalized and the right candidate will also be involved in adapting the strategy and processes as we learn as an organization.

Area of Responsibility



The Business Development team will consist of two Directors of Corporate Business Development and the VP of Corporate Development.

This role will cover and include project ownership in all areas of business development:

  • M&A and in-licensing with a focus on human specialty pharma products/companies in line with Pharmacosmos' newly developed business development strategy. Adaption of the BD Strategy over time jointly with the rest of the BD Team. (75%)
  • Out-licensing of development projects: Drive selected out-licensing Pharmacosmos' growing portfolio of development projects. (25%)

In each case, the candidate’s responsibility will be the driver of assigned Business Development projects from scouting, project setup and through to deal execution involving members from other functions gradually and more and more as the project progresses.

The candidate will coordinate BD projects going through Identifying Opportunities, building a Light Team, Build the Core Team, Built the DD Team including Regulatory assessment involving Medical Affairs, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, QA, Affiliates, business support staff, Supply Chain and Legal as appropriate.

Qualifications (Professional experience/ Ideal background)



  • MSc. or PhD Degree in a relevant field (business, life sciences or the like)
  • 3-10 years of post-graduate experience as an international business consultant or the like.
  • Strong background in management consulting preferred.
  • Strong multi-year experience in international pharmaceutical business development, including some experience driving the project from term sheet to contracting.

Travel days
