Do you have solid experience within business development in China? Do you have a strong network within the furniture industry? Are you an excellent negotiator and communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with your suppliers and stakeholders? If that sounds like you, you might be the new member of the Actona family.
As our new Business Developer, you shall further develop and support our furniture business in Northeast China. You shall work in close collaboration with our Danish product management and purchasing team, as well as with your Chinese colleagues from our Quality and Compliance departments. Your reference will be our Business Development Manager in Denmark, and you will join our Chinese business developer team - currently 4 people.

As our new Business Developer, you shall further develop and support our furniture business in Northeast China. You shall work in close collaboration with our Danish product management and purchasing team, as well as with your Chinese colleagues from our Quality and Compliance departments. Your reference will be our Business Development Manager in Denmark, and you will join our Chinese business developer team - currently 4 people.
Your primary responsibilities:
- Source and develop new suppliers in your area – based on strategic brief from our product managers.
- Monitor market trends and the competitive environment in your area to identify the most competitive Chinese suppliers.
- Work closely with existing suppliers to:
- improve performance on leadtime, capacity and on-time delivery.
- proactively follow up on all important milestones and deadlines – orders as well as product development projects.
- secure thorough understanding of Actona’s business model and key KPI’s
- implement rules, procedures and requirements.
- Drive healthy relationships with new and existing suppliers.
- Trouble shooting and fire fighting in pursuit of smooth daily operations.
Your competences:
- Strong commercial understanding – you are our every-day local eyes and ears, and you know, what to question, what to investigate and what to challenge to secure top performance.
- Excellent negotiations and communications skills.
- Broad experience from the furniture industry, incl. basic product and production knowledge.
- Impact through well-prepared facts and arguments – and cultural understanding of the market.
- You build trust - and engage and interact at all levels.
- A patient coach, when guiding and helping our suppliers to fully understand the partnership with Actona.
- Self-driven with a high sense of responsibility and proactivity.
- High level of energy, enthusiasm, and drive to create results.
- Team spirit and commitment.
- Detailed and organized.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
Education and experience:
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree or above in International Business or similar.
- 5+ years’ professional experience - working in the field of international business development in solution-oriented trading companies.
- 5+ years’ of relevant experience and network from the furniture industry.
- Fluent in English – both oral and written
- Fluent in Chinese – both oral and written
- Good IT skills – Microsoft Office, NAV an advantage
Important to know about the job:
- Your primary work area is Northeast China.
- Your home base is preferably in Shengyang City area, alternatively Dalian area.
- Task-specific working hours – might vary from day to day.
- Wide range of tasks – you need to be comfortable as an octopus with a strong focus to optimize Actona’s business.
- Business travel almost every day.
- Reference to Chinese Team Leader BD, who is located in Danish headoffice.
