Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer in Svitzer, the successful candidate will join the Commercial team in our Head Office based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Key responsibilities


Joining a small HQ team and a global community of Business Development Managers, you will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing and developing growth opportunities for Svitzer globally. This entails driving the end-to-end Business Development process including pipeline management, standardized milestones and stage gates, tools, templates as well as best practice sharing and performance management.

The Business Development Manager is expected to play a lead role in managing the tender process, developing customer value propositions including strategy, solution development, pricing of services, proposal submission and internal approvals.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

• Pipeline management: from direction setting and sourcing attractive opportunities, to maintaining accurate and up-to-date global growth pipeline and progressing opportunities through stages of maturity together with the regional business development teams
• Business Development Process: facilitate collaboration and take lead on ensuring best practice sharing across teams, functions and regions. Drive continuous improvement in the Business Development strategy, process, and framework
• Tender management: ensure delivery of winning proposals on time and as per defined strategy through project management and development of best-in-class standard tools, process steps and materials
• Solutions development: facilitate development of unique value propositions rooted in customers’ needs, pain points and key requirements
• Subject matter expertise: play a key role in customer negotiations, commercial analytics, market intelligence and pricing proposals

We are looking for


As our ideal candidate, you are:

• Customer focused: you always put the customer first and have the curiosity and can-do attitude to uncover and solve key customer problems
• Business development toolbox: you have the experience (more than 5 years) and toolbox to deliver best-in-class business development and tender management results
• Financial acumen: you possess in-depth financial knowledge and are comfortable with producing investment appraisal models, business case memos and strategy recommendations to senior management
• Project oriented: you have strong project management skills allowing you to lead and structure multiple growth projects
• Happy to do the hard work: you will play a key role in cross-functional and cross-border teams where you need to be able to effectively work across geographies and hierarchies and deliver both as an individual contributor and indirect leader of others
• High energy: your enthusiasm is infectious, and you thrive working in a team

You have a relevant Bachelor or Master’s Degree and proficiency in both oral and written English as this is our working language.

You must also hold a valid Danish residence and work permit. Industry experience in towage or shipping is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
