Who are we?
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is Denmark’s largest, and a leading international NGO. In 40 countries 8,000 employees protect, advocate and build futures for refugees and other displacement affected people and communities. DRC introduced a new global ERP system in 2019, and this has prompted the review and further development of finance policies and processes. The position is a part of the Policy, Process and Quality Team, which consists of 5 colleagues, under the Financial Reporting and Compliance Unit. The combined work of the Unit ensures that the financial management of the organisation and external stakeholder commitments can be met.

About the job
The purpose of the position is to develop and continuously improve the financial processes of DRC, rolling out new processes and building awareness on how the defined processes are linked to DRC’s applicable finance policies. The Finance Process Advisor will be a key position in strengthening the control environment of DRC. The position will include providing technical support and guidance on the financial processes as they are applicable across DRC globally. You will report to the Policy, Process and Quality Team Leader.

More specifically the position will have the following responsibilities:

  • Development and improvement of existing and new financial processes to meet the current demands of DRC
  • Coordinating inputs and reviews by key stakeholders across departments to define efficiencies and synergies throughout a process development
  • Roll-out of finance processes across the organisation
  • Supporting the content development and coherency of processes to DRC’s finance policies
  • Taking action when gaps or issues are discovered to ensure future proofing
  • Providing technical support and advise on financial processes

About you

Your ability to work and collaborate with colleagues across departments will be key to successfully developing and implementing new and improved processes in the organisation. You will also need a passion for financial systems and technical tools. You are someone that is not afraid to ask questions and motivated to bring about change. A people person who can communicate clearly and is considerate of different cultures and ways of working. This position is only for those that have the passion and drive to work for one of the world’s largest NGOs.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Experience in developing and documenting finance policies or/and processes, preferably in a humanitarian organisation
  • An ability to work with continuous development of generic concepts
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex processes
  • In depth knowledge and experience of financial systems and tools (Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics considered an advantage)
  • Knowledge of applicable Danish and international accounting standards
  • University degree or equivalent within a relevant area (finance, business management, accounting)

Desirable

  • Training experience and presenting to participants of varying capacities
  • Experience in using O365 applications
  • International accounting qualification
  • French language skills (Intermediate and above)

We offer

Contract length: 12 months with the possibility of extension, if funding permits

Workplace: DRC HQ, Borgergade 10, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Start date: As soon as possible

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC (fuldmægtig-level). This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply. Please note that you need to have or obtain the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa) in order to be considered for this role.
