The Biomarker Identification department is part of the Translational Research area within Global Translation, where it is responsible for identifying clinically relevant biomarkers and generating high-quality biomarker data to guide decision-making in research and early development. You will join a team of dedicated scientists and laboratory technicians who use diverse technologies to develop biomarker strategies for e.g. diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease areas. About the position
The research work is organised into multidisciplinary, cross-functional project teams in which you will represent the department as an expert in biomarker identification using LC-MS-based methods. Utilising a strong background in LC-MS, you will be responsible for developing advanced and robust LC-MS workflows for proteomic and peptidomic analyses of biological samples from diverse biological matrices, including plasma and tissue. Applying your bioinformatic skillset, you will analyse large omics datasets to extract meaningful results and communicate these in project meetings. You will work closely with colleagues in Global Translation to deliver a robust biomarker strategy within the different therapeutic areas of Novo Nordisk and to develop, implement and execute biomarker plans in support of relevant projects.
In your daily work, you will collaborate closely with project teams, department scientists and laboratory technicians. The working environment in Global Translation is dynamic and innovative, and involves interactions with colleagues from research sites in the US and China, with an excellent opportunity to establish a strong scientific network.
Qualifications
You hold a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related disciplines with a number of years of practical experience from an industry or academic setting working with LC-MS-based proteomics, bioinformatics and biomarkers. In addition, we expect you to have:
• Experience with commonly used MS systems (e.g., Orbitraps) as well as sample preparatory methods and analytical software associated with proteomic workflows
• Strong bioinformatic competences for analysing large datasets (basic skills in programming preferred)
• Experience in identification of biomarkers
• Keen interest in working hands-on in a laboratory setting in their daily work
• Experience with automation technologies would be an advantage.
Good management and organisational skills, and the ability to develop innovative solutions to new challenges are essential. You have a strong commitment to high-quality analysis and data handling. Since all work takes place in multidisciplinary project groups, you are a success-oriented team player and find it easy to build relationships between team and project members. You gain recognition amongst stakeholders with your enthusiasm, proactiveness, integrity, and communication skills.
