We are seeking a dedicated Scientist with expertise in rheology and in-depth knowledge of biomaterials to support our formulation development activities for cell-based therapies. The position We are seeking a dedicated Scientist with expertise in cell compatible biomaterial formulations that have a passion for working dedicated on investigating the properties of the formulation candidates for our Cell Therapy Drug Products. The position is laboratory driven and includes experiments to investigate material properties and cell analysis as well as data handling, presentations, and project planning together with other scientists and laboratory technicians. These activities will require tight collaboration with other departments within Cell Therapy R&D, such as Cell Delivery, Process Development and Cell Therapy Devices. The successful candidate independently plans and executes experiments in the laboratory to evaluate the mechanical- and flow properties of different liquid formulations. The development of suitable liquid formulations will be a key factor for dosing accuracy and cell retention. You will run functional characterisation studies using different analytical techniques for screening and optimization of different biomaterials and perform data collection, -analysis and -interpretation. Qualifications You must hold a PhD degree in biotechnology, polymer chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a similar field of studies. You have hands-on experience in rheology of low to medium viscosity liquids as well as cell-biomaterial interactions and a good understanding of biological systems with hands on experience in cell culture work. Ideally you have gathered initial experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Ideally you also have experience in developing and working with a wide range of analytical methods for characterization of polymer formulations. Experience with DoEs would be an advantage. This position requires you to be a dedicated and result-oriented team player who enjoys working in an innovative, international, and open-minded environment. You can easily collaborate cross-departmentally, have a sound scientific judgment, and are used to clearly present scientific data. About the department The department Cell Therapy Analytics and Formulation is a part of Novo Nordisk’s Cell Therapy R&D unit, where we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases. Diabetes mellitus type 1, Parkinson’s disease and chronic heart failure are only some of the indications currently in the pipeline. You will join an international and dedicated Cell Therapy CMC division of ~75 employees, including scientists, project leaders, laboratory technicians and student workers.
