The position As our new Principal Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting projects through close collaboration with your key stakeholders. Your main responsibilities will include: Developing fit-for-purpose ligand binding in-house assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD, AlphaLisa) for quantification and qualification of new biomarkers in collaboration with technicians and/or associate scientists.
Overseeing and managing the outsourcing of assay development and qualification processes to CRO partners.
Evaluating and selecting appropriate CROs based on their capabilities and alignment with project requirements.
Providing technical guidance and support on assay methodologies and best practices, while actively seeking internal and external inspiration for optimizing our methodologies and staying up to date with scientific advancements.
Mentoring and training junior colleagues in immunoassays and data analysis.
Engaging in multidisciplinary project teams and interacting with stakeholders from various parts of .
Promoting a culture of innovation and curiosity, while ensuring accountability and timely delivery of high-quality scientific data.
Qualifications To thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to have: PhD in Life Sciences or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in assay development, qualification, and sample analysis, specifically in an outsourcing context.
Strong scientific immunoassay competence profile and independence in technical and operational skills.
Proven track record of conducting biomarker assay establishment, analytical qualification, and outsourcing of assay activities.
Ability to analyse and interpret data using appropriate statistics.
Thorough understanding of both preclinical research and early clinical development.
Strong capabilities in cross-functional collaboration, working experience in international matrix organisations and experience working with external contributors.
Experience navigating high-complexity environments, employing non-standard approaches, and handling diverse tasks in both known and new therapy areas.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high-performing colleagues.
Strong communication skills enabling clear presentation of scientific data and discussions in assay expert groups and cross-functional teams.
Moreover, you should have a strong drive and a quality mindset, with a talent for troubleshooting, organizing, and creating overviews. A good sense of humor and the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously are also valued. Your interpersonal skills should enable you to build fruitful relationships with both colleagues and stakeholders. About the department At the Biomarker Assay Development department, we establish and qualify biomarker assays to support drug discovery. We deliver crucial biomarker data that helps mature the next generation of drugs, changing the lives of patients with chronic and rare diseases. Our department consists of three teams and 24 highly skilled and self-motivated scientists and technicians. We collaborate and share knowledge to benefit each other and ultimately the patients. We are experts in flow cytometry and immunoassays such as ELISA, AlphaLisa and MSD. Biomarker Assay Development is part of Global Translation, an organisational area responsible for applying translational methodologies across all the therapy areas in . Global Translation is part of ´s Research & Early Development and is located in Måløv, Greater Copenhagen.
