The position As Manager or Associate Manager in Biomarker Assay Development, you will lead a team of approximately 6-9 highly skilled scientists and laboratory technicians, generating high-quality biomarker data for guiding decision-making in R&ED. You will report to and collaborate closely with the Director and Head of Biomarker Assay Development. Your responsibilities include:
  • Continuously improve team deliverables, lead them to optimally develop and qualify assays for novel biomarkers
  • Spend 50% time in research projects to support and develop fit-for-purpose biomarker assays (ELISA, MSD, AlphaLisa) for pre-clinical and exploratory clinical samples
  • Engage in multidisciplinary project teams and interact with stakeholders from different parts of Novo Nordisk
  • Mentor and train junior colleagues in immunoassays and analysis of data
  • Help promote a culture of innovation and curiosity, while maintaining accountability and timely delivery of high-quality scientific data

Also, as a member of the management team in Biomarker Assay Development, you will have a role in shaping the future direction of the area. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you need to:
  • Hold a PhD degree within Life Sciences or related discipline relevant to pharma research and development or biotech
  • Have +4 years of work experience with assay development and qualification in the pharmaceutical industry or similar
  • Be an aspiring leader with track record managing 1-2 people in scientific projects or skilled leader with hands-on experience either as Team Leader or Project Manager
  • Have knowledge in drug development and biomarker assay development and qualification within the pharmaceutical industry or similar
  • Be proficient in spoken and written English
  • On a personal level, it is essential to possess exceptional communication skills, and an ability to build interpersonal relationships. You should approach your tasks in a well-structured manner and take ownership of your responsibilities. Demonstrating independence, flexibility, and proactivity is a must in this position. Additionally, you should have a profound understanding of cross-functional processes, quality-oriented mindset, and troubleshooting skills. About the department At the Biomarker Assay Development department, our focus is on developing and qualifying biomarker assays to support drug discovery and development. We also assess the feasibility of biomarker platforms and generate essential biomarker data that drives the development of the next generation of drugs, transforming the lives of patients with chronic and rare diseases. Our department consists of 20 highly skilled and self-motivated individuals who collaborate and share knowledge to achieve common goals and ultimately benefit patients. We are experts in immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, AlphaLisa, MSD) which are routinely applied for quantification of biomarkers. Recently, we have also developed expertise in flow cytometry-based biomarker assays. As our department continues to expand, we are seeking talented individuals with a diverse range of skills and experience to join our team.
