We are looking to hire a talented Scientist to support the development of a platform of genome edited hypoimmunogenic stem cell-derived cell therapies within the Cell Therapy R&D unit at Novo Nordisk. The position We are looking for a Research Scientist to support our efforts to progress stem cell-based therapies towards clinical development, focused primarily on type 1 diabetes, chronic heart failure, and Parkinson’s disease. Your focus will be on generating in vitro and in vivo proof-of-concept data to support development of genome modified, hypoimmunogenic allogeneic cell therapy products as well as providing strategic and technical expertise in the field of immunology as it relates to the development of our allogeneic cell therapy products. Qualifications You hold a Ph.D. in immunology, developmental/stem cell biology, molecular biology, or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience (may include post-doctoral experience, however, industry experience is preferred). Stellar recent PhD graduates will be considered as well. To be considered you need to have:
  • Broad knowledge of human immunology, including development and optimization of cellular immunology co-culture assays (incl. immune cell and complement cytotoxicity, or phagocytosis assays)

  • Experience with flow cytometry, live cell imaging (Incucyte), cytokine assays (ELISA/MSD), and RT-qPCR

  • Experience with antibody/bead-based cell selection systems (FACS/MACS)

  • Experience in working with primary human blood samples and derived cells and familiarity with assay development and optimization

  • Experience with mouse and larger models for human cell therapy engraftment studies

  • Understanding of immunologic responses to allogeneic cell delivery and engraftment

  • On a personal level you are dedicated, adaptable, hard-working, and dependable with strong communication, resource management, writing, and data presentation skills. You have ability to work in a team-oriented and multidisciplinary environment. About the department The Department of Cell Engineering is a dynamic, technology driven department, part of Cell Therapy R&D, a Transformational Research Unit (TRU) within Novo Nordisk. The TRU is unique in the sense that it covers the full R&D value chain, which means we function as an integrated unit, spanning from early research to GMP manufacturing and clinical development in the same organisation. Our department is part of the Research organization based in Måløv, Denmark and we are experts in stem cell culture, genome editing, differentiation, characterization, and both in vitro and in vivo functional assessment.
