The position
As a Principal Scientist, you will be part of project groups identifying new treatment options for kidney and other cardiometabolic diseases.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Active engagement in innovation and in understanding the mode of action supporting the characterization of novel treatments.
• Project execution with a focus on the design of in vitro experiments to validate human relevance; utilization of translational tools and exploration of mechanism of action.
• Working closely with other team members to move projects forward across the value chain.
• Taking part in evaluating potential external opportunities from academia, biotech, or pharma.
Qualifications
You have a Ph.D. or MSc within Life Sciences with a minimum of 8 years of research experience related to kidney physiology.
To succeed in this role, you need to have:
• Drug discovery experience from the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience in working with small molecule programs is an advantage.
• A scientific track-record within kidney pathophysiology.
• Profound experience with setting up and running advanced human in vitro models of kidney disease.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
On a personal level you are dedicated, pro-active, well-organized, and responsible and have a passion for troubleshooting and experimentation. In addition, you are collaborative and a team player and can operate in a dynamic environment with multiple concurrent tasks.
About the department
The position is anchored in the Kidney Biology department that is part of Type 1 Diabetes and Kidney Disease Research within Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s strategy within chronic metabolic diseases, we are focusing on target identification, target validation, and pre-clinical characterization of new assets intended to become novel treatment options for patients living with cardiometabolic diseases. In close collaboration with our colleagues, we are working in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner to develop, characterize, and utilize in vitro tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates.
