We are looking for a dedicated laboratory technician with a passion for in vitro lab work to join our department – is this you? Then please apply today The position The laboratory technician will work closely with experienced scientists to support all aspects of the daily activities in the in vitro biology lab. From culturing primary human cells to conducting and analysing in vitro experiments. Most of your time will be spent in the laboratory, however, you will also be responsible for processing and reporting obtained data according to guidelines. Your daily routine may vary from repetitive standard tasks to challenging and innovative work. You will also be responsible for equipment, maintenance of equipment as well as general laboratory maintenance. We are a diverse department with multiple nationalities. Furthermore, you will: Plan and conduct experiments in the laboratory Find solutions to practical issues Take responsibility for daily laboratory operations, for instance, planning to ensure sufficient cells for experiments and optimizing workflows Continuously learn about new cellular models and techniques Collect and report results to scientists in the team Get the unique possibility to grow and learn about early-stage research in an industry setting with international colleagues Qualifications You possess an educational background as a laboratory technician with a strong experimental background in cellular systems. You have accrued a minimum of 2 years of practical laboratory experience, including handling human-derived cells, analytical methods e.g., qPCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, and cell imaging. Additionally, you demonstrate fluency in both written and spoken English. The ideal candidate will have experience with several of the following methodologies: In vitro assays related to pancreatic islet biology Molecular biology techniques such as siRNA and qPCR Cell culture and transfection Stem cell differentiation Immunohistochemistry/fluorescence microscopy/high content imaging system Lab automation systems As a person, you thrive in a dynamic research environment. You think and act independently and you are familiar with prioritization and problem solving in a laboratory context. You have a positive can-do attitude and are highly collaborative. About the department The Skeletal Muscle & Pancreas Biology Department is anchored in the Diabetes and Obesity research area within Global Drug Discovery (GDD), Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s strategy within chronic metabolic diseases, we are focusing on target identification, target validation and pre-clinical characterisation of new assets to become novel treatment options for patients living with cardiometabolic diseases. In close collaboration with our colleagues across GDD, we are working in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner to develop, characterise and utilize in vitro tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates.
