Would you like to learn how to pioneer new laboratory automation platforms to help generate datasets for Generative AI and to find the therapies of the future? Then join the team in the Department of Automation and Process Optimization! The Position You will be responsible to aid scientists in our drug discovery research areas with automating high value workflows and helping them to develop and apply automation to generate datasets for generative AI. Some of your key responsibilities:
  • Visit labs to understand the work that scientists and technicians do, and help develop automated, high throughput process.
  • Help deliver hands-on practical implementation and optimising of automation solutions.
  • Converting existing manual processes to automation friendly ones.
  • Help deliver the integration of the hardware with the databases etc. to generate the data sets that AI requires.
    • The role may involve visiting our global sites. This is a very people facing role, so a positive outgoing nature is important. Flexibility and a willingness to learn new things is essential. Qualifications
  • You are experienced with general laboratory procedures and experimentation. Understanding of statistics would be useful.
  • You are experienced with cell-based culture systems and assays.
  • You are familiar with liquid handling platforms such as the Biomek and Tecan platforms. Or if you are not, you would love to learn more!
  • You are familiar with and programming languages such as python, C# etc.
  • You have a PhD-degree in biology, biomedical research or similar.
    • About the department You will be working in an area called Digital Science & Innovation which is supporting the digital journey across all our global therapy areas in R&ED. We work in multidisciplinary teams, have strong collaboration with all areas across R&ED to leverage scientific knowledge, and partner with our IT organisation, to ensure access to the most advanced technology platforms and tools. We participate in drug development projects across the value chain, from early discovery to pre-clinical development. We engage on external collaborations to ensure access to the latest research and technology enablers, we automate our labs and processes, and we focus on developing and retaining top talent.
