We are continuously expanding our research both within our core and new therapeutic areas. We are therefore looking for an experienced scientist to support our peptide and protein discovery as well as engineering of new peptide formats using cutting-edge molecular and chemical biology methodologies. Are you a curiosity-driven scientist with the drive and skills to work at the interface between chemistry and biology? Do you thrive in an international scientific environment with a focus on empowerment, employee well-being, and data-driven decisions? If yes, then this opportunity could be right for you. Apply now and join us to do world class research! The position As a subject matter expert in molecular display technologies, you will utilize your skills within drug discovery projects, particularly by leading peptide discovery campaigns using library-based/directed evolution technologies. The position requires scientific excellence combined with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and navigate cross-functional research groups. You will be part of a multinational team with the common responsibility to utilize mRNA display technology to the benefit of our early research pipeline. You will play a key role in setting the direction for a well-functioning mRNA display team and our collaboration with other display platforms including yeast display and phage display.
In this role, you will work in project teams with members of various scientific backgrounds across the internal research organization to ensure alignment and the best path forward within our projects. You will have the opportunity to set direction and leverage your ideas not only within your scientific area but also for research projects across the Novo Nordisk therapy areas. Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Plan, supervise, and evaluate mRNA display discovery campaigns for early drug discovery projects
  • Interpret and evaluate subsequent analyses (comprising molecular biology, analytical chemistry, next generation sequencing) and use these for general structure activity and relationship (SAR) creation.
  • Proactively prepare, present, discuss and prioritize scientific tasks, challenges and results within a project team.
  • Act as project leader/tech lead for technology teams within research projects when applicable.
  • Contribute to innovation by identifying and implementing new technologies and technological innovations and/or initiating new research projects
  • Initiate and define cross-functional collaborations to maximize the impact of the technology
  • Inspire and actively influence scientific teams as well as external partners. Act as a subject matter expert and a mentor for less experienced members of the team
  • Qualifications To thrive and succeed in this role, you should have:
  • A PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, chemistry or related discipline
  • Pharma/biotech industrial research experience combined with extensive experience with one or more molecular display technologies (mRNA display, phage display, or yeast display)
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of molecular biology methods (DNA & protein characterization/purification, PCR, Next generation sequencing)
  • Experience in cross-functional project teams and working in a semi-virtual environment, using leadership skills to engage, inspire and ensure project success.
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary work at the interface between chemistry & biology
  • As a person, you are curious and driven by the basic tenet of science – to take on something that people think cannot be done and to go way beyond where we are today. You thrive in a changing and dynamic work environment and have a can-do attitude with the ability to execute a plan and keep deadlines. You are a good team player, who consistently engages in constructive collaborations and values collaboration and knowledge sharing. Your passion for science and ability to impact and progress projects inspires those around you.
