In this role, you are accountable for the development of the Waste to Energy (Global) business segment. You will set the technical and commercial market strategy direction in partnership with B&W Sales, establish and maintain key account relations, provide proposal strategies for the accurate and competitive development of proposals, and lead all commercial pre-bid strategy, terms and conditions reviews.
The Senior Business Developer will establish and motivate teams in a matrixed environment. You will lead and direct all post-bid commercial and technical contract negotiations, and make certain that technical and commercial items are negotiated favorably and that proper mitigations are in place for risks to assure the best possible contract.
You will also be accountable for, in conjunction with senior management and B&W Sales, developing, updating, and implementing the go-to-market strategy for B&W’s Waste to Energy (Global) business segment, including the efforts to coordinate and enforce such strategy across all of B&W’s sales representatives and resellers.
You will stay informed of the status and activities on won projects in execution and provide assistance through your customer relationship in order to manage issues and leverage such projects into future additional opportunities. You will act independently and autonomously within B&W’s corporate guidelines in the performance of your position and make decisions on behalf of B&W, frequently in the absence of management and often in remote locations without access to advice and counsel.
We have several European entities, where you can be based e.g. United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, and Sweden amongst others. You will divide your time between travel, office and/or home office.

Main focus will be:
- Work with B&W senior management and B&W Sales to develop, update and implement the go-to-market strategy for B&W’s Waste to Energy (Global) business segment.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key customers, sales representatives, resellers, and EPC’s.
- Work with B&W Sales and customers to bring the customers’ potential projects from concept to reality while influencing tender requirements and maintain B&W as a lead supplier.
- Initiate, manage, and direct the Go/No-Go and Bid/No-Bid Meetings: Insure that good business judgments and decisions are made during these meetings.
- Develop and lead the opportunity strategy and work with proposal teams to turn strategies into actionable tactics and tasks.
- Coach and manage the proposal teams on the development of accurate bids assuring reliable cost build-up and legitimate execution plan that can meet the proposed schedule.
- Review and ensure that proposals and the overall proposal process put forward compelling value propositions, technical accuracy, and competitive positioning.
- Develop and direct negotiation strategies and gain alignment from internal stakeholders.
Education, Competencies & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant technical discipline required.
- 10+ years of project management experience or equivalent required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience communicating in high stakes scenarios with external stakeholders, preparing necessary testimony for hearings, and developing and delivering strategic communications to management.
- Ability to interpret technical reports and studies and communicate project impact.
- Thorough understanding and implementation of Waste to Energy (Global) in accordance with contracts.
- Excellent solution-seeking, teamwork, leadership and communication skills, which extend across all organizational and management levels.
- Demonstrate successfully independently managed contract negotiations.
- Demonstrate a command of legal knowledge and background associated with successful contract management.
- Demonstrate successful project financing experience.
- Ability to successfully work and communicate with members of Sr. Management, peers, subordinates, and unaffiliated third parties.
- Fluent English language essential.
