The Centre of Maritime Health and Society (CMSS), Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark, Campus Esbjerg, invites applications for a post as Research Assistant (short term) to join the research project Fishsafe2025, first phase, Bangladesh, for the period November 23, 2020 - February 20, 2021.
This position offers opportunity to contribute to studying the sociodemographic characteristics of the small-scale fisheries with a focus on improving safety and wellbeing of fishermen and their families.
CMSS is a research unit providing research in the areas of occupational health and safety in the maritime sector. The results can help optimize the working environment within industries, such as shipping, fishing, shipyards, offshore, industry suppliers, as well as the wind power industry.
You will need a Master's degree (or equivalent) in economics, public health or similar discipline with a substantial quantitative element. You will also need to demonstrate an understanding of micro-econometrics or advanced statistics for applied health research, good command of public health determinants and experience of managing and analyzing complex survey and/or administrative data. Experience in academic writing and conveying results, accordingly, is a must. Awareness of vulnerable population groups needs and expectation in developing countries is desirable.
