We are looking for a talented and dynamic Assistant Professor who will join the group of Professor Barrès for a 4-year position to the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research to commence 15 January 2023, or after agreement.

You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on basic and applied research questions related to the effect of environmental factors on the epigenetic ageing signature. You will work both independently and collaboratively across this team and the Center to produce world-leading research in the field of Bioinformatics in Epigenetics.

Background
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research’s vision is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms our basic understanding of the mechanisms that underlie metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge towards new prevention and treatment strategies. We were established in 2010, and in 2017, we moved into new laboratories, offices, and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower www.maersktower.ku.dk.

The Center has around 260 employees who work in an international, highly collaborative research environment across a range of biomedical disciplines. You can read more about us here: www.cbmr.ku.dk.

Our research
The Barrès Group investigates how environmental and lifestyle factors at large, like diet and physical activity, by modulating the epigenetic blueprint of somatic and gametic cells, influence long-term metabolic health in present and future generations. More information about the group can be found here.

We are seeking a talented and dynamic researcher to explore the mechanisms by which epigenetic aging signature are established, and to discover sex-specific aging biomarkers and develop novel precision medicine strategies.

The Assistant Professor will implement a large data mining of multiple molecular databases to retrieve epigenetic profiles in men and women across the human lifespan. They will then apply advanced statistical methods (meta-analysis, meta-regression, cell type deconvolution) to identify sex- and tissue-specific epigenetic patterns of aging.
