Open position:

SCIENTIST,
Nonclinical Development

Adcendo is a Copenhagen-based biotech company, developing innovative antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) treatments for cancers with a significant unmet need.

About Adcendo

Adcendo is an emerging biotech company working in the field of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Following our series A investment round of 2021, we established our presence at Copenhagen Bio Science Park (COBIS), where we continue to build and mature the company, together with a dedicated and steadily growing team. We have attracted an international senior management team with a proven track record of successfully developing and getting approval of currently marketed ADCs products. Altogether, we are driven by making a meaningful difference for cancer patients, and a passion for science.

Key milestones recently achieved by the company include 1) selection of the development candidate ADC molecule for our lead program, planned to enter the clinical stage by the 2nd half of 2024; 2) initiation of a second, first-in-class pipeline program; and 3) establishment of important platform technology alliances.

The company is financed through a group of well-known international biotech investors, and in April 2023 we closed a series A extension financing round, taking total funds raised to EUR 82 million.

The Department of Nonclinical Development focuses on pharmacology (mode of action and efficacy), pharmacokinetics and toxicology of our ADC drug candidates. Adcendo has access to in vivo facilities as well as well-equipped laboratory facilities, and further work with external CROs. The department currently houses 8 full-time scientists/technicians, as well as 4 student helpers.

About the position

The Department of Nonclinical Development in Adcendo is seeking a scientist of mid-level experience, proficient at both in vivo biology as well as molecular biology lab work, to help assess the therapeutic potential of preclinical pipeline ADC drug candidates. Specifically, by establishing PK/PD relationships and evaluating anti-tumor activity. In close cooperation with the nonclinical team, the scientist will be responsible for planning and executing preclinical studies. The position will report to the Director, Nonclinical Development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performing assays such as ELISA, to determine concentrations of ADCs in samples from PK/TK studies
  • Conducting in-house xenograft studies
  • Presenting data from experiments at department meetings and to other functional areas in the company, as well as at project team meetings
  • Supporting further training of junior staff by providing guidance and assistance when needed
  • Actively fostering effective and collaborative working relationships with other Adcendo employees, senior management, and external partners
  • Complying with quality standards and documentation practices (e.g., electronic lab notebook entries, writing reports) necessary to support submissions to regulatory authorities

Required Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, or related field
  • FELASA certificate, at minimum level B or an international equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years of experience with relevant laboratory work, including in vivo work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well in teams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and presentation skills

Other Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with ligand-binding assays such as ELISA, with track record of trouble-shooting and method development/qualification will be a significant plus
  • Biotech or industry experience will be a significant plus
  • Experience with xenograft models, therapeutic mechanisms of actions, and dose/exposure response relationships for therapeutic activity will be a significant plus
  • Prior work experience with antibodies or antibody-based therapeutics is a plus
  • A proven ability to prioritize and adjust day-to-day workload based on company needs and goals
