We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic computational biology postdoc for a two-year position to join the Lund research group starting 1 April 2024 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Our research
The Lund group wishes to recruit a postdoctoral fellow in computational RNA Biology. You will lead a project to develop algorithms to study RNA modifications based on single molecule sequencing technologies with a particular focus on ribosome heterogeneity and specialised protein translation. Thus, it is favourable that the candidate has previous research experience in aspects related to ribosome biology and regulation of translation in health and disease.
Your job
You will join the Lund Group focusing on ribosome heterogeneity and specialized protein translation. We use a broad array of wet lab and computational techniques and highly value collaboration and cocreation. You will take part of a collaborative project using nanopore sequencing to identify RNA modifications.

Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and computational frameworks.
Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of two years. The start date is 1 April 2024, or after agreement.
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 356,400 DKK/approx. 4,880 EUR (October 2023 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills:
- You have a PhD in biomedical or natural sciences.
- You are highly experienced in Bayesian Machine Learning algorithms.
- You are an advanced user for multiple machine learning frameworks (Pytorch and Tensorflow).
- You are advanced in probabilistic programming language Pyro, as well as other common programming languages such as Python, R and Shell scripting.
- You are experienced with technical problem solving for Linux/Unix based systems.
- You have experience with software package management systems - apt/dpkg, yum/rpm
- You have working knowledge of multiple Linux distributions (Ubuntu/Debian/Red Hat) for daily computing tasks.
- You have experience with building existing software from source.
- You are experienced with nanopore data analysis tools and have deep understanding of their results.
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
- Excellent English skills written and spoken,
Desirable experience and skills:
- You have previous work experience in the field of protein translation.
- You have the ability to identify and differentiate hardware and software problems.
- You have working knowledge of git.
