We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher for a three-year post-doc position in the BrainH2O group lead by Professor Nanna MacAulay at Department of Neuroscience, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen to commence on September 1st, 2024 (or shortly thereafter).

Our research

The research group is a dynamic entity working on different aspects of cerebrospinal fluid dynamics in rodents with a translational bridge to the neighbouring university hospital. The posted project is centred on identification of molecular mechanisms involved in cerebrospinal fluid secretion in physiology and pathophysiology.

Your job
The position focuses on the cerebrospinal fluid dynamics in physiology and in animal models of post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus.The employed experimental approach relies heavily on rodent in vivo experimentation and animal disease models, and such experimental expertise will be favoured in the hiring process.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with a keen interest in delineating the molecular mechanisms driving the cerebrospinal fluid dysregulation in post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus, an ability to master complex experimental techniques, and a drive towards understanding the underlying physiology.

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in natural/medical sciences or equivalent
  • You are highly experienced in rodent in vivo experimentation (and possibly membrane transport)
  • You have a license to conduct animal experiments (Felasa certificate)
  • You are curious of nature and ambitious with your scientific approach
  • You have proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • You have excellent English skills written and spoken

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Department of Neuroscience, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of three years. The starting date is 1 September 2024 or soon thereafter.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 38,500 DKK/approx. 5,100 EUR (April 2024 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

The further process
