In collaboration with colleagues, you will be developing and applying a coupled ocean and sea ice model system based on HYCOM (Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model; https://www.hycom.org/) and CICE (Consortium Model for Sea-Ice Development; https://github.com/CICE-Consortium/About-Us/wiki) covering the Arctic and North Atlantic. In addition, DMI develops and apply sub-kilometer scale ocean models for selected fjord systems in Greenland and has a long tradition of including novel remotely sensed data sets for assimilation and validation in its model systems.
The HYCOM-CICE model system at DMI is used mainly for:
At DMI, within the NCKF Unit for Global Climate, you will be part of the Arctic Ocean modelling group and work in close collaboration with a number of dedicated and highly qualified colleagues.
