DTU Biosustain is actively seeking candidates for postdoctoral roles in fields such as sustainability, genomics, microbiology, and bioinformatics/data science. We welcome applications from researchers in these or related fields, especially those focusing on large-scale data integration using advanced technologies (e.g., long-read, single-cell, microscopy, metabolic) for sustainable food and agricultural production. We encourage a broad interpretation of potential research topics, and are interested in candidates who explore any organism, timescale, or level of biological organization, utilizing both computational and experimental methods. Our ideal candidate will pursue ambitious, innovative research questions with rigorous and creative methods, be enthusiastic about working in a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to our diverse, collaborative community.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain) Recent progress in our ability to read and write genomic code, combined with advances in automation, analytics and data science, has fundamentally changed the scope and ambition of harnessing the potential of biological systems. Big data approaches and analysis of biological systems are key research instruments at the Center. DTU Biosustain utilizes these advances for microbial cell factory design to foster sustainable lifestyles in relation to three application areas: Sustainable Chemicals, Natural Products, and Microbial Foods.

Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research in sustainability, genomics, microbiology, bioinformatics, or related fields. This includes developing and implementing experimental and computational methods to advance the field.
- Utilize advanced technologies such as long-read sequencing, single-cell analysis, microscopy, and metabolic profiling for large-scale data integration. Focus on sustainable food and agricultural production.
- Address ambitious research questions using rigorous and creative methodologies. This involves identifying and solving complex problems in the relevant fields of study.
- Engage in collaborative work with a diverse team of scientists and researchers from various disciplines. This includes sharing expertise, contributing to team projects, and participating in interdisciplinary research activities.
- Actively participate in the scientific community at DTU Biosustain. This includes attending and presenting at conferences, publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and engaging in academic discussions.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers, students, or interns. This may involve supervising projects, providing academic advice, and assisting in the development of research skills.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in computational biology/bioinformatics
- Domain knowledge: Sustainability, Genomics, Microbiology
- Proficiency in programming (python or others)
- Motivation to learn, contribute and adapt
