Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Environmental Technology at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applicants for a 2-year postdoctoral research fellowship in developing a Power to Gas technology.
The position is a part of eFuel project funded by EUDP (Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program), aiming to develop industrial scale biomethanation technologies for the conversion of CO2 from biogas and hydrogen produced from electrolysis into methane. The project will run in tight collaboration with Nature Energy, Biogas Clean, and the Bioenergy Group of the Technical University of Denmark. The successful applicant will develop a novel high rate trickle filter-bed bioreactor configuration with a robust and stable biomethanation process. The applicant will participle in developing lab-scale reactors and design experimental studies for elucidate the syntrophic interactions and microbial community dynamics of the biomethanation process and TEA (Techno Economic Assessment of the process. Qualifications/requirements The applicant should have a PhD degree in relevant field and prior knowledge and experience of bioreactor systems for anaerobic digestion incl biomethanation. In addition, the applicant should have proven research record and experience in most of the following areas:Biological biogas upgrading Extensive experience of process simulation and techno-economic assessment Biofilter-mediated reactor optimisation The applicant should be enthusiastic about research, capable of learning new skills, and happy working both independently and in collaboration with other scientists. Develop own smart ideas and think independently. Furthermore, the applicant needs to have strong collaborative skills and proven abilities to publish at high international level. Employment as a postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level. Employment as a postdoc is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period.
Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time. The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
