The Section for Civil and Architectural Engineering (CAE) at the Department of Technology and Innovation, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Southern Denmark invites candidates to apply for a position at the rank of Associate Professor in the area of Computational Design and Digital Fabrication. The anticipated start date is March 1st, 2021. Applications are received until January 4, 2021.

Job Description
The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting and supervising research within the linked areas of computational design and digital fabrication. In particular, he/she will develop complex projects, expand design and fabrication facilities, and building a strong research team with competences in complex computational modelling, architectural robotics, additive construction, design for manufacturing, mixed reality. In parallel, he/she will contribute to the development of the educational program, promoting the integration of innovative digital practices, and planning a research-based track of studies in the emerging area of Construction 4.0. The candidate will operate actively in attracting research grants to support the Section’s growth and will work on shaping strategic industrial and academic partnership at national and international level.

Qualifications
The position requires university education at the PhD level in Computational Design and Digital Fabrication or equivalent and demonstrated academic excellence in the subject area through a track-record of research achievements and peer-reviewed publications. Evidence of high-quality teaching should be demonstrated via a statement of the teaching philosophy and examples of student work. Commensurate with the seniority level of the position, it is expected:

  • Prior experience in the development of digital fabrication facilities
  • Supervision experience with PhD and/or Master students
  • Established research collaborations with industry
  • A track-record in attracting research funding

A panel will assess the qualification of the candidates for the described position, based on the submitted documents, which will include:

  • Statement of Motivation
  • Curriculum Vitae, with relevant diplomas and certificates
  • List of publications
  • A selection of published and unpublished research works
  • A teaching portfolio addressing the candidate’s pedagogic approach and experience in education
  • Description of the projects previously managed, with information about funding and duration

Conditions of employment
Employment as an associate professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.
