The center of Life Cycle Engineering at the department of Green Technology invites applications for a Postdoc position within the life cycle assessment (LCA) discipline.
Creating a sustainable future requires a holistic insight and understanding of the long-term interactions of technologies and other systems within the world on a global scale. Our goal is to develop the knowledge and methods for achieving this insight.
We offer the opportunity to work in cross-disciplinary projects in the areas of sustainable use of biomass resources for biofuels and feed, as well as dynamic application of LCA. The position is available from 1. March 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, with very strong competences. Candidates are required to have a proven track record in several of the following fields:
Job description
The Postdoc will work in various projects and will have the responsibility to coordinate with project partners to successfully fulfill the projects requirements and deadlines.
Qualifications
The successful candidate has a PhD degree in applied LCA and experience in combining environmental and economic assessments for deriving decision support relevant for industry and academia. Competencies within the following areas will be considered an advantage:
Furthermore, experience in assessing biotechnologies and biomass resources is considered essential. The successful candidate should additionally have knowledge of land use change and indirect land use change modelling. Good command of data management tools such as programming-based statistical tools (preferably R or otherwise Python and similar) are beneficial. Ability to work in an international multidisciplinary environment is an advantage.
A collaborative mindset and proven track record of stakeholder involvement is an advantage. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills as well as an excellent command of the English language are desired. Command of the Danish language is not a requirement, but will be seen as an advantage.
SDU
The successful candidates will be affiliated with SDU Life Cycle Engineering at the Department of Green Technology, University of Southern Denmark which is located at the Faculty of Engineering on the international campus in Odense, Denmark.
The work is partially funded by the Horizon 2020 funded project Production of synthetic renewable aviation fuel from CO2 and H2 (Take-Off). SDU Life Cycle Engineering is engaged in development and application of quantitative methods to support decision making within the area of industrial ecology.
Conditions of employment
Employment as a postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level. Employment as a postdoc is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period.
Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time. The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. - Knowledge of handling carbon emissions from land transformation and experience using carbon turn-over tools
