A 2-year postdoc position in quantum nano-optics from July 1, 2021 until June 30, 2023 is open at SDU Nano Optics, Mads Clausen Institute, (www.SDU.dk/nano-optics) at the University of Southern Denmark (Odense Campus).
The postdoc is expected to carry out research within the project “Room Temperature Generation of Indistinguishable Photons” supported by VILLUM FONDEN (Villum Experiment Grant). The work involves experimental and theoretical investigations of interactions of individual quantum emitters with nano-cavities supported by metal nanostructures. The aim is to study fundamental physical phenomena in light-matter interactions at the single-photon level. In the project, individual quantum emitters, such as color centers in nanodiamonds, coupled to highly confined and enhanced electromagnetic fields associated with surface plasmon excitations will be studied at temperatures ranging from cryogenic (~2K) to room temperature. The research is conducted in close collaboration with a number of international research groups.
Potential candidates for the postdoctoral position are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and documented research experience within a related field as well as a strong academic record. Experience in advanced nanofabrication, optical characterization of plasmonic nanostructures, quantum optics and optical measurements at cryogenic temperatures will be considered an advantage.
The postdoc is also expected to be actively involved in the supervision of MSc and PhD students affiliated with SDU Nano Optics as well as in writing grant applications supporting the research at SDU Nano Optics.

Conditions of employment
Employment as a postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level. Employment as a postdoc is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period.
Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time. The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
