The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine Odense and Cochrane Denmark, Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for a 1-year full-time position as a research assistant, starting December 1, 2021 or as soon as possibe hereafter. The aim of the position is to enrol as a PhD Student at the Graduate School of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark and thereby to convert the position to a 3-year PhD scholarship.
Job description
The position is part of the project ‘Conflicts of interest in peer review of biomedical research’ funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark - Medical Sciences (Case no. 1030-00317B). The aim of the project is to investigate conflicts of interest in peer-review of biomedical research. The project is conducted in collaboration with the Paris Descartes University and the University of Colorado, and part of the project consists of a short visiting research fellowship abroad at one of the two institutions.
The project consists of four sub-studies on which you will be the lead investigator, and your primary task will be to participate in data collection, analyses, and interpretation, as well as reporting the study findings in scientific papers. You will have the opportunity to shape and develop the project in collaboration with supervisors from the centre. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to various tasks at the centre, e.g. participation in teaching curriculum and involvement in other research projects at the centre.

We undertake research relevant for Cochrane and evidence-based medicine, including research on conflicts of interest. Expectations of qualifications
We expect that you have a relevant master’s degree, for example, in medicine or public health.

Salary and terms of employment
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
The position is a 1-year position with the possibility of conversion to a PhD scholarship (3 years in total). The workplace is in Odense, but it will be possible to work from home some days per week.

- Research experience including authorship of scientific publications
- Flair for scientific work, including systematic thinking and good written and oral communication skills in English at an academic level
- Able to show initiative, be meticulous and possess analytical skills
- Ability to work independently, but also to collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary research team
- Teaching experience
