SDU Robotics, part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for two post doctoral research positions in Robotics with focus on Medical Applications, which will be vacant from March 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. One position is limited in time for 2 years and one for 3 years.
The candidates will be integrated into the SDU Robotics Section specialized in robot solutions involving sensorial processing, mathematical modelling, learning and simulation targeted at advanced robot systems for medical robotics and also other application domains. The group is involved in a variety of national and European projects. The aim of the group is to solve challenging research problems from real applications and to participate in implementing the achieved results in real solutions with end users.
The candidate must hold a PhD degree in robotics or similar and is supposed to have most of the qualifications below:
The candidate is expected to participate in activities of the SDU Robotics section including current and future research projects. This involves for example:
The candidate will be involved in teaching courses on our BSc and MSc Program in Robot Systems Engineering enrolling approximately 160 students per year and to supervise BSc, MSc and PhD theses.

Conditions of employment
Employment as a postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level. Employment as a postdoc is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period.
Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time. The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. - Documented experience in methods related to facilitating programming of advanced robotics tasks within medical applications.
- Documented experience in collaborative projects with partners in health care or manufacturing industries aimed at implementing research results for real applications.
- Experience in programming in C++ and in developing maintainable robotics software.
- Documented experience in using AI methods for robotic applications.
- Documented experience in method related to programming by demontrations of robots.
The candidate is expected to participate in activities of the SDU Robotics section including current and future research projects. This involves for example:
- To be able to collaborate with our experts in the further development of our core technologies.
- To participate in the practicalities of actual research on medical applications.
- To be deeply involved in our regular coordination and joint evolvement of research and project activities.
