Odense M

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Professor Blagoy Blagoev at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense. Invited are applications from outstanding candidates with a keen interest in applying mass spectrometry-based proteomics to understand the molecular basis underlying cell signalling. The position is for one to three years with a possibility for extension. The position is available from March 2022 or shortly thereafter. Application deadline: 20 February 2022.

The research group integrates mass spectrometry-based proteomics and bioinformatics with molecular and cell biology to study dynamic signalling networks and their regulation by post-translation modifications, like phosphorylation and ubiquitylation. The research team's main interests cover tyrosine kinase signalling, stem cell differentiation and aberrant signalling properties associated with human diseases (see e.g. Barrio-Hernandez I et al., 2020 Genome Research; Akimov V et al., 2018 Nat Struct Mol Biol; Sanchez-Quiles V et al., 2017 Mol Cell Proteomics; Rigbolt KT et al., 2011 Science Signaling).

Qualifications/requirements
The qualified applicant should hold a PhD degree and documented background in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences or related. Documented expertise in protein mass spectrometry or cell signalling research are compulsory.

We seek a highly motivated individual with a strong scientific background and track-record in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and cell signalling research. Experience with bioinformatics/computational data analysis aspects of quantitative proteomics will be greatly valued. Additional experience with large-scale analysis of post-translational modifications would be of further advantage.

The successful applicant will primarily use quantitative proteomic approaches to study protein-protein interactions and post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and ubiquitination, in regard to regulation of mammalian signalling networks. The position focuses mainly on successfully funded projects, without excluding the possibility of the candidate to work on additional research projects of interest. The candidate should be proficient in spoken and written English and have an interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment.

We offer

  • A postdoctoral position in a stimulating and supportive, international research environment
  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and infrastructure for mass spectrometry-based proteomics, cell biology and molecular biology
  • Opportunity to interact with an extensive network of national and international collaborators
  • A competitive salary and social benefits (e.g. health coverage, parental leave, social security etc.)

For further information please contact Professor Blagoy Blagoev ([email protected]).
